Salt companies do not have bufferzones. They affect the adjacent communities and learning institutions with foul smell, dust and saline water. Bufferzones need to be created

In 2018, National land commission recommended that solar salt company's lease be revoked and land to be allocated to the community. This has not happened and we appeal to the chief land registrar to do the revocation

For a long time salt mines have been involved in land grabbing in https://t.co/gpdjV1z3ja is time we wake up and demand for justice to ensure this does not continue.

Magarini residents are tired of the human rights violations as a resultant of salt mining. We need change. Salt companies should observe business and human rights. We demand for undeveloped land to revert to communities. #LandNotSaltKilifi

Apart from land grabbing and environment degradation the ones working in the salt farm are getting a very small payment, we need our land and value back.

The National Land Commission recommendations for idle land occupied by the salt firms to revert back to the Community for utilization are long overdue. State actors implementation should commence.

Salt companies in Magarini make billions of profits but adjacent communities are squatters, they live in abject poverty and their environment polluted. Justice needs to prevail.

Allocation of land to salt firms was done irregularly and this has claimed community land, shrines and fresh water sources. Some of the beacons are deep into the oceans while others have claimed mangrove forests.

Land that salt mines grabbed in Magarini for salt mining and to date is not under use, rather idle should be given back to the community for agriculture use.
