Was just woken up by an air raid in Ukraine. It made me feel a sense of panic being woken up by siren alarms after falling asleep. My heart felt like it was racing and I needed to catch my breath because I was so startled from the loud noise waking me up.

I don’t know how people in Ukraine have dealt with being woken up by air raid alarms every single night for nearly 5 years. It’s like being woken up with a bullhorn.

Some of the responses to American soldiers being killed today are really rubbing me the wrong way. Saying something sarcastic like "didn't we destroy their military?" feels like you're using their deaths as a gotcha to shit on Trump.

There's a difference between asking a hard question about whether stated war aims match reality and using a death notice as the occasion to score political points. The first is legitimate scrutiny any citizen is owed — not everyone has to agree with the war. The second treats a person who just died in uniform as a prop in an argument they have no part in.

Save the policy argument for a moment that isn't also someone's worst day.
