@letsrundotcom I mean that decision was made 100% without distance runner student athletes in mind but it could end up benefiting American kids assuming the same scholarship or roster spots go to kids in the US instead of just age verified international students.
Cautiously optimistic for the USMNT team tonight. But I feel B&H is just brave and agressive enough to really challenge an offensive-minded US back 4. Hopeful the US gets to continue playing in what's been an awesome WC.
@steven_montoya#MeToo Coach! BUT joy comes in a post LR beverage or ice cream and if that' s wrong I don't want to be right π Still less than 15lbs more than my sr yr college XC weight 25 yrs ago so I'll take it and my donut π
@steven_montoya@RodMurrow I always ran in the mornings in HS in MI but in the evening in college (a DIII in the midwest) because I worked a morning job. Evening was better then. Much prefer mornings now (mid-40s desk job life)
Ran a marathon a week ago and the thing I'm most proud of single tying my shoe laces and not realizing it until I changed after the race. Never came untied. GPS says 26.36 miles so that has to be a PR.
@JasonFitz1 It would need to be an experienced runner that's regularly handling a single, 2 hour+ wkend long run over some years without injury and steady race improvement. 4hr+ marathoner running b2b 3 hr runs have better options for improvement IMO/experience. Faster runner, could be good?
@Brady_H Same experience about 70 minutes behind you. HR was great, just didn't have the ToF in training to sustain the last 5k to 4 miles just when the Gmas course gets it's most demanding.
USA. A Mexican restaurant. We had not yet ordered anything, and the food was already arriving.
Chips. Salsa. Unrequested. Free.
I stopped the waiter. "We have not earned these."
"They just come with the table, man."
They come with the TABLE. In my land, hospitality is a debt. Every gift creates an obligation, weighed carefully, returned in the proper season with interest of feeling. Here, the gift arrives before you have even proven you can pay for dinner.
This is not an appetizer. This is a declaration: we trust you. Eat.
I ate with the gravity the moment deserved. And then β I must report this calmly β the basket emptied, and a new one appeared.
"Did we"
"Refill," the waiter said. "It's bottomless."
Bottomless. They have wells of salsa. The supply lines of this nation are beyond anything my ancestors imagined.
My friend warned me. "Don't fill up on chips, dude."
Too late. I had accepted three baskets. Honor demanded each one be finished β an unfinished gift is an insult. By the time my actual food arrived, I was a ruined man.
I was not hungry. I was not comfortable. I had been defeated by a courtesy.
Generosity that arrives before the request cannot be repaid. It can only be survived.
I know the rule now. I have made my peace with the basket. One basket. Two at the most.
Who am I deceiving. There is no number of baskets I would refuse. The trust of a nation is in that salsa, and I intend to honor all of it.
I know it's important and has to be addressed but I'm tired of the US teenagers vs late 20's int'l student debate that is the entirety of NCAA DI 5k/10k discussion.
When the AUSL season begins tonight, NiJaree Canady won't be on the field, or in the dugout.
The softball superstar from Texas Tech β drafted No. 2 overall and arguably the most marketable player in the sport β has not yet agreed to a contract:

The existential questions of the offseason in college football: Do we want rules? Do we want to be governed?
In Lubbock, the answer is no. Brendan Sorsby is, for now, eligible to play in 2026 at Texas Tech.
Complete travesty.
@TJ_Pittinger Meanwhile, Hudson's parents are already getting "call me in spring 28 π° π° π° " texts from cell numbers around Austin and Lubbock.
My wife just finished reading Friday Night Lights. I read it 20 years ago. Folks we can no longer be shocked by the status of HS and NCAA football. The shots were called by the willing a long, long time ago.
@runliftrunlift I've found 10-14 days to be the sweet spot for me. I don't have time to do a 2hr+ LR midweek and my legs absorb lifts better pushing my LR every other weekend. After 30+ yrs touching different paces/gears every 7-10 days has been the sweet spot in my mid 40s.
