im sorry maybe my heart's not in it but making the only gnc character rather rapey isnt progressive, its straight up hayes code shit, no matter how many musical numbers are involved.
@KirFlem Kirk embraced the notion that people will die in order for the Second Amendment to be upheld. That superseded his desire to voice opinions and feel safe, so... RIP, I guess, bro.
I just finished East of Eden this morning. I'm not religious at all but Steinbeck looked me in the eye and said: you are not destined to be your worst self; you are not condemned by your past; you get to choose, every single day, you get to choose. This book doesn't need you to believe in God (I judged it too harshly and quickly). It only needs you to believe in people...the terrifying, beautiful fact that we are capable of both darkness and light, and that the choice between them is always, stubbornly, ours. Honestly, one of the most devastating things I've ever read.
Keep believing in mornings. The ones that feel impossible before your feet hit the floor. Those mornings have produced every comeback you've ever made.
@Srirachachau Saw it at the Academy Museum a couple years ago with Arnold introducing. That subtitle got a major laugh too. Great movie with an audience.
@MichaelFKane@david_jgpeoples What makes you think it takes years to travel in between these solar systems in the universe of Star Wars? "In movie," we are never given a scientific explanation for the distance between these two systems.
@DDayFilms Fair enough but I haven’t seen any skepticism that includes a rationale that rises above “I’m mad that a kid that young got this opportunity.” The argument is predicated entirely on his age. It’s bitterness and nothing else.
@C05M1C57R4N63R I see what you mean, though not identifiable in all of the movies, they seem to all somehow share a very similar 'sound' in their hyper sense of self-awareness. I like plenty of these movies, too. Interesting observation.
@HanaHoops Actually, the closest comparison I can think of is Ray Rice. The NFL was perfectly fine letting him off the hook until the video of the incident leaked. It was only when everyone saw it that they suspended him for a season. ABC was fine with Taylor until the video came out.
