NASA has released the first up-close images taken by the OSIRIS-REx spacecraft during its touch and go landing on asteroid Bennu yesterday.
Preliminary data indicate the spacecraft was in contact with the asteroid's surface for approximately 6 seconds.

"The results are stunning," said physicist and astronomer Patrick Hartigan of Rice University.
"We see a wealth of detail never observed before along the edge of the cloud."
