CDS post should not, ideally, have a uniform or rank.
Just ‘CDS’. Dress up like bureaucrats. A person who wasn’t found eligible to become Chief cannot be CDS. He is Retired too.

Over the past few years, whenever the nation called, the Navy delivered. I want to thank the Government of India for entrusting me with this responsibility to lead the Indian Navy. I want to thank all my shipmates, teammates, officers, sailors, and defence civilians who have stood with me and delivered what the country wanted. What we have demonstrated as a service is that we are there to protect and promote India’s national maritime interests anytime, anywhere, anyhow. Delhi | When asked about the major issues with the safe passage of oil tankers from the Strait of Hormuz, and how the Indian Navy is helping in this, Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS) Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, in an interview with ANI, says, "...The primary challenges in this region include regional instability, asymmetric threats, attacks on merchant shipping, missile and drone threats, navigational safety concerns, and the increasing complexity of maritime traffic management during periods of heightened tension... India has significant stakes in ensuring uninterrupted maritime trade and secure energy flows... To safeguard India’s maritime interests and ensure the safe passage of trade, the Indian Navy has proactively stepped up its presence.
