Sincerely speaking, Peter Obi isn’t fit to lace Bola Tinubu’s shoes when it comes to governance. Once we stop fooling around and just face the facts. He wouldn’t have made it to commissioner level under Uncle Bola.

There is not a single thing he did better than Tinubu as governor.

- What models of governance did he institute that other states copied? None. Tinubu’s got several.

- States copied his compartmentalisation of governance into agencies - LASTMA, LAWMA, LAMATA et al.

- There is a reason Peter Obi spends more time in Lagos than Anambra and also used the image of Lagos to sell his “new Nigeria” agenda. Lagos is a Better Nigeria already in play.

- they copied his free trade zone plans
- they adopted BRT.
- they adopted his IGR model.
- they sent their commissioners and senior aides to learn in Lagos.
- they said these themselves.
- No one has ever said they adopted Obi’s methods. There is nothing to adopt. Obi has no style or method other than claims of being a good human being. Good for personal interactions, utterly limited for the job of leading a nation.
- consumption to production is yucky inanity.

Peter Obi looks like a good guy but my chef is a good guy too and I have no intentions of voting either of them as President of Nigeria. Treasurers in a private club? May be.

Saying “I make sure I am in the car when they buy fuel” as a Governor is an indictment on his ability as a leader. He should be led by others. Because he has proven himself to be the type to do everything by himself.

Peter Obi doesn’t know how anything works. Except to import goods and sell. A good skill, J must say but those who started importing when he started are now into manufacturing.

Peter Obi doesn’t build leaders. That is why despite 2 terms as governor, who are his main people today, neophytes in some cases, clowns in other case and utterly clueless X influencers in others. Also reflected in the fact that, whether you see it or not, Datti Baba-Ahmed is increasingly isolating himself from Obi.

Note that these are not the worst of his failings. I could delve into those. These are the nicer bit.

So here, we aren’t talking perception. There is more than enough data to make sound judgements, except for those who want to be president because of something else. Can’t possibly be on account of competence or capacity. I won’t argue catering.
