This might be the worst leak I’ve ever seen.
I feel devastated for the studio. Such a staggering beautiful film.
If you worked on this, please know, your talents should be marvelled.
Final point for now: we had to fight hard with our vendors to serve this poll in 4 languages (we won). Why? They'd never been asked before.
If the data arms of the Democratic apparatus can't listen or talk to the very voters we purport to represent, we're just screaming into the void.
We're changing that.
Proud to partner with @admcrlsn of @ZenithPolls to go deep into my beloved hometown's electorate.
Here's my view of the latest independent NYC mayoral race polling. I'll state up front that I'm Stringer's pollster.
There are three big "tests" right now--Teflon Cuomo; Mamdani's Ceiling, and the Third Lane.
Teflon Cuomo: Cuomo's basic strategy has been to come in with big name ID and big money, rose garden the candidate, and white knuckle it to Election Day. So far he's been polling low 40s-high 30s and nothing has knocked him off course. If this poll is statistical noise on the lower end of that range he's still holding on. If it's the beginning of a downward trend, he's in trouble.
Mamdani's Ceiling: Zohran is running an excellent campaign (as his campaign manager in our middle school election, I take partial credit) and challenging the limits of what a leftist candidate can get in NYC. The benchmark is Wiley '21 in the low 20s, which is where Zohran is at now. He's had to do a lot right just to get there, now comes the real q--is he stuck there?
Third Lane: As many others (@MichaelLangeNYC, @RossBarkan, @admcrlsn ) have pointed out, there is a wide open center-left lane that seems awfully promising if Cuomo starts to tick down and Zohran is stuck. Call it the Garcia lane, call it the normie lane, call it the MSNBC lane, whatever. Stringer or Adrienne Adams are still in a credible position to take that lane, with the resources to do it. Since this is where my candidate lives, I won't lay on the schtick.
As for the others? Zellnor's YIMBY/fresh face/good government lane never really materialized. Just too much facing the city for voters to roll the dice there. Lander has tied himself in knots to try to assemble his lib-prog '21 comptroller coalition, but Cuomo and Zohran scrambled that and Brad doesn't have enough money left to recalibrate (credit where it's due to a bold early spend plan that could've worked). Ramos was spurned by WFP and other mainstream progressive groups while true believer lefties went Mamdani (I don't pretend to know what happened behind the curtain there). She's running a fun campaign though, even if it's tough to see her endgame.
This race is just getting good, imo.
