Professor & Dattels Family Chair at The Jackson Laboratory @jacksonlab studying hematopoietic stem cell biology, aging & cancer. ๐จ๐ฆ๐บ๐ธ Tweets are my own.
Thrilled to share that our Stem Cells & Developmental Biology program at JAX is officially launched. 40 PIs. 60+ trainees. >$160M in active NIH funding. Fundamental discovery and translational platforms โ in the same world.

For years, lab lore was that the workhorse Scl-CreERT transgenic driver is integrated on mouse chr4, thanks to yeomanโs work tracking genetic crosses by @sanchezvelamd. In 2024, we decided to find its exact locus of integration by inspection of aligned Illumina short-read WGS. /1
Returning home from the Karolinska StratRegen retreat as a keynote speaker. I heard inspiring science spanning bioengineering, aging, stem cell & organoid models, immunology, regeneration, & more. Fantastic to catch up with my postdoc labmate Sidinh Luc after nearly 10 years!
Can we interrupt the inflammatory signals driving clonal hematopoiesis? Our new study, led by @jaynathemistry, identifies neutrophil-derived S100A8/A9 as a potential therapeutic target to limit DNMT3A-mutant stem cell expansion. @Haematologica

Itโs been a big few weeks for Stem Cells & Developmental Biology at The Jackson Laboratory! A thread๐งต #JAXresearch#JAXstemcellsdev https://t.co/rhEeCL73L2
๐๏ธ Rethinking regenerative potential: in @Nature_NPJ Regenerative Medicine, James Godwinโs team found that manipulating T cells restores bone regeneration in mouse fingertips, suggesting mammals may have more regenerative potential than we thought.

We're proud to fund @TrowbridgeLab & @vangalenlab as they investigate how age-related inflammation may fuel blood cancersโand uncover potential paths to prevention. This is why connecting aging biology & cancer research matters! with @TheMarkFdn#BloodCancerAwarenessMonth
This #BloodCancerAwarenessMonth, weโre spotlighting 2023 Emerging Leader Award winner Jennifer Trowbridge (@TrowbridgeLab) of @JacksonLab. Sheโs looking for answers to a big question: why aging blood cells develop into cancer in some individuals but not others.
The Jackson Laboratory is a wonderful, collaborative place to pursue basic & translational science. On the faculty job market? I strongly encourage you to consider joining us in Bar Harbor, Maine!

Bittersweet to say goodbye to our lab manager @griffin_nye after 5 years. He's kept the lab running & brought endless enthusiasm along the way. So grateful for all he's given. I'll miss him, but I'm excited to see him follow his dream of becoming a teacher! ๐ฉท
I had the privilege and joy of returning yesterday to the @DanaFarber and @BostonChildrens where I did my postdoctoral training, this time as an invited speaker. Grateful to Zuzana Tothova for hosting me! It was a full circle moment and can't wait for the next time ๐
