The reason the INT call last night in Denver was clearly BS is because this same NFL, given the same rule language, reviewed and decided Shakir DID satisfy 3c on 12/14, but somehow Cooks last night—given the identical rule language—didn’t. And Cooks inarguably exhibits control Shakir never had. So the NFL set their precedent. Then ignored it.

It isn’t about what the rule says and if you feel Cooks fell short of what you think the football move control text of 3(c) means. It’s that the NFL created precedent (in the Shakir play and others in 2025) of what constitutes the control element. But then decided to interpret it far differently to decide the AFC Divisional.
