Earlier today, Australian of the Year 2021 Grace Tame spoke to Hamish Macdonald on ABC Radio and claimed that reports of sexual violence on 7 October were “propaganda” that had been “debunked”. She also said that understanding these accounts required knowing the “broader context”.

There are thousands of testimonies from 7 October. We are sharing just one, from Tali Binner, who featured in Sheryl Sandberg’s documentary Screams Before Silence.

For a survivor of sexual violence to dismiss and deny the testimonies of other survivors in this way is deeply irresponsible and profoundly harmful.
