@9x19 I will decline to pass judgement on that specific case. I would add, I can cite several other prominent visible minority cast members on current scripted Canadian shows, where the character is not a caricature, and is comparatively normal, in the context of scripted TV.
@9x19 The lead writer is a Korean Canadian, Ins Choi , the same person who wrote the play on which the show is based. I don't know that you can find discrimination there.
@9x19 While over at CTV Transplant's cast includes a lead actor of Iranian descent playing a medical doctor; as well as Black woman in the same profession and 2 other minorities actors in recurring roles (surgeon and social worker). I think your generalization is problematic.
@9x19 Um, CBC also runs Kim's Convenience, Mohawk Girls, Diggstown (lead character is a Black Woman); many other shows w/minorities in the lead and as 'normal people'. Doubtless there is more room for improvement........1/
@9x19 There is room for thoughtful concern about a deficit; or what restrictions have or have not been imposed and how that is correlated to the science. This, is not that. This is a full-on tinfoil hat rant.
@9x19 Levitt has a strong anti-worker bias. He really dislikes quality employment standards and is disinclined to follow evidence when it comes to their benefits.
@GraphicMatt Holyday is on the wrong side of every issue. I'm quite certain he would vote against Motherhood, and Apple pie; and in favour of war and famine.
@PasternakTO Councillor, I see you saying we should wait for a report on golf courses. But a report was requested 3 years ago, and is more than a year late. Parks needs to operate in good faith. They have not been. The contract extension should be denied.
@dmrider Great. Truthfully, I'm open to keeping some of the courses. But I'm not up for this 2-year stalling tactic. Parks was asked to generate a report on the future of the Courses 3 years ago. It was due last fall. Its still not before Council. Those tactics ought not be rewarded.
@GraphicMatt That can't be rewarded. We need a thoughtful discussion on whether to modify some courses to pitch n' putt (golf w/maximum 100 yard fairways, that takes a bit less than 1/2 the typical area), to fully shift some courses to other uses, or fully retain a couple.
