My Plan for New York Giants in 2022 @Giants
=========================
Let’s start by what is certain
-NYG has the #5 Draft pick. 11 total draft picks including 2 firsts(#5 & #7) and 2 thirds
-My projections of -$8,860,965.72 in cap space on 3/16 & -$22,207,287.72 for the season
I’ll start the new year with this: DeVito should be playing
Tyrod played a good game on Sunday. But he isn’t the future and is a free agent at the end of the season
Even if unlikely, let DeVito get some reps and see if he can be part of the future

Hey Giants Twitter, I’ll be making my return to being active on here. Life got in the way but excited to talk Giants football with y’all.
This season was definitely tough. Fire up any questions for me.
@clt_ny I don’t think your number of ~$4.33m is far off but there’s a number of factors involved
The $6.46mil is also outdated as NFLPA hasn’t updated in a bit(that I’ve noticed). Not much has changed since then though. I could’ve missed it but did the rest of rookies sign?
@clt_ny Take that away from PS salary of $11,500 & you get $29,971
But that’s for a player with 0 credited seasons. There will also be permanent PS callups who get replaced on PS so savings differs
However if I remember right NYG(and other teams) had less than 53 at times to save $$
Curious to see where the true numbers end up at. Either way, it’s a boost to the Safety market
McKinney isn’t in this range yet in the safety market, but he is eligible to be extended after this season. Safety market certainly got a boost here

Cutting Brunson creates $20,488 in dead money for 2022. In addition, since the move is after June 1st, Brunson's 2023 signing bonus is charged to 2023. Brunson will account for $20,488 in dead money in 2023
No cap effect with this move, as the #51 player has a cap hit of $895k
Long overdue update to the NFL analytics staffer chart!
As always, this is to the best of my understanding based on both what teams list and conversations with analytics folks around the league.
Interesting nugget. Giants have three unsigned draft picks: Second-rounder Wan’Dale Robinson and fourth-rounders Daniel Bellinger and Dane Belton. In line with league-wide trend
@Bull41461712@clt_ny That’s a fair point and I’d say the strongest point for a QB2 with this team
It’s definitely been tough to evaluate the offense recently, but that’s also been the case with Jones healthy. I think we can put that one on Garrett
@clt_ny@computerfolkpe1 Sure, but how much value does he add next year?
Andy Dalton signed 1yr/$3 mil
Nick Foles signed 2yr/$6.2mil
I can see value of a vet QB with a rookie QB, but that’s mostly in teaching/mentoring rather than playing
@Bull41461712@clt_ny If a poor season, NYG is in position for a top QB. If DJ plays well he could be the future. Tyrod isn’t a long term answer, & winning an extra game or two with a bad team isn’t worth it
For a contender, QB2 has value. Extra game or two if QB1 gets hurt could clinch playoffs
@computerfolkpe1@clt_ny They clearly had cap issues this off-season & unless you’re contending, I don’t think it is wise to consistently push money into the future
@clt_ny@plus_sign I think teams are seeing the values of (1) rookie contracts especially and (2) stars at premium positions
NBA is a star driven game. Not sure I see the same success with that in the NFL, besides QBs, but the Rams made it work
I’ve been a little MIA folks been very busy with work. I’ll have updated numbers out hopefully this week I’ve been waiting for Wan’Dale, Belton, & Bellinger to sign
Been a little lucky it’s a quiet time of year. Looking forward to more salary cap content soon👍
@clt_ny@plus_sign Oh yeah Taylor will be on the roster next year. It’s also nothing against him he’s a good backup
There was a debate about value of QB2 before FA & skyrocketed when initial numbers came in on his contract. Then it went away after the ‘22 cap hit was low & NYG pushed $$ forward
