### Statement on the Emfuleni Local Municipality By-Election

The Truth and Solidarity Movement (TSM) officially registers its strongest possible objection to the outcome of the by-election held yesterday, 27 May 2026, in Ward 28 of the Emfuleni Local Municipality.

We view the recent shift in this ward—which saw the Democratic Alliance (DA) secure victory with 32.36% of the vote—not as a triumph of democratic expression, but as a systemic failure that threatens the integrity of our nation.

Our movement stands firm in the belief that the current political climate and the processes surrounding this election represent an undemocratic transition of power. We are witnessing a concerning erosion of the interests of the South African people.

**Our Demands:**

* **Immediate Re-election:** The Truth and Solidarity Movement formally demands that the Emfuleni local election for Ward 28 be declared void and that a new, transparent election process be initiated with immediate effect.
* **Protection of Sovereignty:** We call upon all citizens to remain vigilant. We cannot stand by while the governance of our municipalities is surrendered to interests that do not serve the developmental needs of our people.
