I fell for a scam because I always believed I was careful. It started with a phone call from someone who sounded professional.

He knew my full name, my bank, and even my recent transaction history, so I didn’t suspect anything. He said there had been suspicious activity on my account and that they needed to “secure” my funds immediately.

While I was still trying to understand what was happening, he sent me a link that looked exactly like my bank’s website and asked me to verify my details.

Within minutes, I started receiving debit alerts. At first, I thought they were system notifications, but then I realized real money was leaving my account. I panicked and tried calling the number back, but it was switched off.

My hands were shaking as I rushed to my banking app and discovered that almost my entire savings had been transferred out in several transactions. I immediately blocked my account and contacted my bank’s customer care. Thankfully, they were able to freeze one of the transfers before it was completed, but I still lost a painful amount of money.

That experience changed the way I handle anything related to my finances. I no longer trust unsolicited calls, links, or messages, no matter how convincing they seem. Looking back, the scammer didn’t hack my account, they manipulated me into giving away the information they needed. If there’s one lesson I learned, it’s that fear and urgency are the biggest tools scammers use.

Whenever someone pressures you to act immediately with your money or bank details, slow down, verify independently, and never assume a caller is who they claim to be.

Hanan Yablonka, Michel Nisenbaum, and Orion Hernandez were murdered during the October 7 Massacre and were kidnapped to Gaza by Hamas terrorists.

Last night, in a joint IDF and ISA operation, their bodies were rescued in Jabalya and brought back home to Israel.

We will not rest until each and every one of the hostages comes home.
