@PartisanPitfall @big_pedestrian Japan is a homogeneous high trust society where it is legal for 5 year olds can be out in the city/town. Parents in the US have been arrested for letting pre-teens wander w/o adult supervision. Also toddlers are crazy. They will dart into the road for no reason.

I have paid property taxes in Baltimore, Florida, and DC and they all went up every year. I used to pay my parents FL property taxes until it jumped from $400 to $1K.
