Ron was a friend and mentor from the moment I first met him as a graduate student. The depth of his knowledge is only surpassed by the generosity which which he shared it. A tremendous loss. #histsci
It is with great sadness that I share this bad news: Ron Numbers has passed away. He was a prominent historian, but above all a generous and kind person. I saw Ron for the last time in Chicago in 2018, but we have been exchanging emails until very recently.
Been sitting on this for several months but seemed like an appropriate Juneteenth celebration since it’s now official official. There are too many people to thank—mentors, friends, family. My husband in particular has gone hard for me since he met me, moving halfway across the 1/
