48/57. “Make sure that Indigenous People have space in the Board meetings and proceedings so that we can bring our perspectives, facts and figures.” @TungaSampang on ensuring meaningful participation in the work of the Fund.
1/4.📜IMPORTANT PUBLICATION: “A Dying Indigenous Village of Lo”, from Tunga Bhadra Rai and Tsering Wangmo Gurung of @NefinCC, shares the story of a Indigenous village impacted by #LossAndDamage in the Upper Mustang region of Nepal 🇳🇵.

Waiting for text on #GlobalStocktake and #GGA to have meaningful language on scaling up grant-based #adaptation finance. What good is a goal with indicators if the core MOI - means of implementation - namely #ClimateFinance is missing? On the next to last day of #COP28 a reminder
The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (#UDHR) is the most translated document in the world. 🇦🇺 was 1 of 8 nations which drafted this document in 1948. We celebrate the #UDHR’s 75th anniversary & continue to prioritise our work to protect & promote human rights for all people.
This is why we have been calling on countries for political commitment, predictable and ambitious #ClimateFinace, #HumanRights -based #ClimateAction, social-environmental integrity....
I want to express my deep gratitude for the wonderful hospitality I enjoyed from the government & people of Nepal.
As a leading example of #ClimateAction & the second largest contributor to @UNPeacekeeping, Nepal deserves the full solidarity of the international community.
A highlight of my visit to Upper Mustang was joining a workshop with the Indigenous Lobha community to discuss their approaches to land management & climate change. 🇦🇺 is pleased to partner #NEFIN to run training with the Lobha community & to gather data on traditional practices.

We would like to see a stronger and more ambitious Strategic Plan of #GCFund explicitly centered in human rights, including the rights of Indigenous Peoples, gender equality, and rights-based climate action.
Prioritize partnerships with civil society, #IndigenousPeoples, women, people with disabilities, youth & local communities as agents of change not merely victims of the #ClimateCrisis
The UN Permanent Forum on #Indigenous Issues has commenced! Happy to attend as part of a strong @IWGIA team with friends from around the world.

It has been great for @iwgia to be part of the CSOs observers at the #GCFB35 - a lot of strong and knowledgeable voices, including #IndigenousPeoples representatives, that have been following the @theGCF for many years!
#COP27#LossAndDamageFund could be just an illusion unless #ClimateAction hit 1.5 degree target.Creating several #climatefinancing windows without increasing ambition doesn’t make difference. You don’t need many plats & spoons for a pice of a pie. Increase the size of pie too.
Extending #COP27 could be intentional and a conspiracy to leave out many voices including of #IndigenousPeoples as many of us are leaving on November 19 as planned. We have been experiencing this trend for last COPs. It’s time to question this practice !
This is going to be a long COP!
Guess whose voices will be missing from negotiating rooms as #COP27 presidency sends signals that COP is likely to expand into Sunday...
Negotiations by exhaustion is particularly taxing for small delegations representing the people most affected
📢it is great to hear at #COP27 that Parties recognise the need to revise the #Article6o4 recommendation on carbon removals, citing concerns related to human rights, transparency of the process, and the need to better define the scope of this recommendation... BUT...[🧵1/3]
#India’s move to phasedown #FossilFuel makes difference. However, being upstream neighbor of India, it raises fear more than hope for us—#IndigenousPeoples may hugely suffer from negative impact of so-called #CleanEnery such as #HydroPower project. We have no good experience ..
🔥Could #COP27 finally break the spell and call out the fact that meeting the #ParisAgreement targets requires that governments phasedown fossil fuel power and subsidies in an equitable manner?
🇮🇳India's recent support could provide new momentum as we head into week 2 👇
💲🌎 To translate pledges into action for indigenous people, it’s important to:
➕ Consider that everything is interconnected. You cannot choose one thing in an ecosystem
➕Improve the percentage that goes direct to indigenous people
