@emmma_camp_ I think what she's saying is that the current immigration situation is new and unprecedented and that action must betaken now to change the status quo. I don't agree but that's my understanding of her position
Matt Walsh, and many like him, have the sole occupation of spreading rage. It’s how he feeds his family. He wants you locked in a rage spiral so that he can make money. He is occupationally incapable of not melting down. Once you realize it, it explains everything that he does.
I’m not even super left wing on questions of prison abolition. I’m certainly willing to entertain all kinds of arrangements. But what I believe pretty strongly is that there are no intellectuals remaining on the right with respect to this stuff. I just literally don’t know how you can watch us speed run into having a carceral state and still have basically no introspection about the intersection of incarceration and politics beyond just, “crime bad.”
Like, never, even in your darkest moments, even when you’re alone on a desert island and no one can see you or hear you and there’s no risk of you getting in trouble, do you ever think critically about the consequences of mass incarceration? Do you literally have no critiques? Do you genuinely believe there are no downsides? Will you not allow yourself to have any ordinary thoughts at all?
(last one, I swear. probably)
@wrowclif a lot of people have worked themselves up over absolutely nothing and the only real solution is for them to realize that this isn't a huge issue and they should chill
I think it's a problem that the post-MeToo era planted the idea that *every* time things go wrong in a straight couple it's along the precise same terms and with the man to blame.
@mattyglesias When this line first emerged it always came as advice to the person with the head. As in, don't let that asshole live rent free in your head. Somewhere along the line the assholes decided to own it.
There's really no point in further analyzing any Iran deal until the actual details are published, since both the Trump administration and the Iranian regime are inveterate bullshit artists.
No parent needs to have "child foods" like sugary cereals or processed chicken nuggets at home to "get their child to eat."
For example, you serve them whatever you are eating for dinner. If they don't eat it, that's perfectly fine. Breakfast will be served in 12 hours.
