I knooow wine is the most dense and hard to comprehend of all the beverages. Let me help you break through the mess of it all! ...Because I’m stuck inside like everyone else rn. #Tweetasomm
My partner @BlackGirlsDrink and I sharing a little Thursday Beauj-Vi. This bottle is everything I know #jeanfoillard wine to be. Darkly fruited, ample earth and spice, concentrated and elegant. I swear we drink non-French wine...sometimes.
This 1999 Hermitage from Domaine Belle was lovely. Advanced dried fruits and cured meats, licorice and dried savory herbs. Check out that core! #Hermitage#rhonewine
@letstalkwinenyc Yea I don’t think so either. It sounds like the server just verbally recommended a bottle, and CT+JL didn’t investigate. Based on that price there’s really only a couple bottles out there that it could have been. If you know wine you know that a 1961 Haut Brion is gonna be $$$$$$
This is a failure of hospitality. You don’t just throw a bottle at a guest because you think they’re wealthy or not. BUT if you don’t take a moment to ask what something costs thennn that my friends is shared responsibility.
The #AhSo tool on the left is what extracts the cork. The tongs pinch the cork and allow you to extract it in one piece. Just a little work and voilà! Time to decant and sip.
The #winekey tool on the right I use to cut the foil capsule covering the cork, and to pull the cork out just a touch. This will unstick the cork from the bottle, but pulling any further and I risk breaking a fragile cork.
@Geturgrapeon IMO less aggressive markup will make wine so much more accessible to people. The huge disparity between cost of production and sticker price doesn’t make sense anymore. Not if prestigious houses plan on surviving beyond COVID.
