Hi Twitter! I’m about to be covid-quarantined in Taiwan for two weeks! To pass the time I’ll be reading the 18th-century Chinese novel “The Dream of the Red Chamber.”
@borlowchigby I think of you as someone who only loves movies set on the Upper West Side and up, but if there's one Brooklyn Heights movie for you, this is it.
@gyzyby I have a copy of Lewalski's Milton biography inscribed to "Lillian and Lou" as well as a copy of Closet Devotions inscribed to the Duke LGBT center.
@gyzyby more seriously, there's a good range among recent students of Jean: Musa (short and confident), Andras (heavily footnoted and smart), Christine (chatty, witty, and brilliant)
I highly recommend this article which might seem to be about Taiwanese modernism but is really all about the history of lesbians riding on bicycles together
@stewdust Laura Doyle's Inter-Imperiality. Actually not a good model for what or how we can write early in our careers, but inspiring in the ambition it brings to the project of literary criticism.
