There is an African Proverb that I love:
“A cat that dreams of becoming a lion must lose its appetite for rats.”
Meaning: To achieve greatness, you must let go of old habits that could hold back your progress.
Early in my corporate life, I presented the goals for my six member team at a company offsite with almost 400 people.
I made some big, audacious declarations - double revenues, expand to 50% more cities in 3-4 years.
Huge applause.
That evening at the bar, the MD spent five minutes giving me gentle but firm feedback. My goals were "fuck all" - exact words. And not specific or measurable or even a plan.
A message I carried well for the next two decades, right up to becoming CEO of a leading media company.
I'm reminded of it whenever I hear statements like this one.
What does "India will be ahead of all countries in all sectors by 2047" even mean? Ahead in GDP? Per capita income? Healthcare? Chip manufacturing? AI? EV sales? Number of flights? I could go on and on.
No data, no plan, no measurement. Bas bol do. Classic jumla.
And the bigger problem - millions will swear by it and glorify it.
If this isn't the sign of a republic of slogans, I don't know what is.
FML. 🤷🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
I’m begging you: if you wake up every morning with a sense of anxiety that just won’t go away, read what Marcus Aurelius wrote nearly 1,900 years ago.
He was Emperor of Rome from 161 to 180 AD. His reign was marked by plague, wars, political unrest, economic pressure, and devastating personal losses.
Market speculation is NOT about markets and prices and trading hours and margins and charts and government reports
Have any of you figured this out yet or is the con still sending you down the "road of easy answers"??
Markets are all about redistributing wealth from the many to the few (of course, not in every market every year)
The real game is played in the upstairs private poker room (commercials, reportable specs)
You and I (5 to 20 or so futures contracts a trade) do not even count. We are peons. Ants viewed from space
That the avg spec has not figures this out yet is the reason that fewer than 3 in 1,000 who try make it
People whine about their losers. If is always a story of coulda, woulda, shoulda or the latest gimmick in charting or a bad government report. Anyone who believes these fables deserve to lose their money. Seriously, that is my view.
Every once in while I see on X a post by someone bragging about the hypothetical profits they made from the "sim trade for a fee" scam.
The sooner a retail speculator realizes that trading stocks and commodities is just a huge computer game the better. I view long term holds in quality companies as an investment. Being married to my wife of 58 years is an investment. Not having debt is an investment of sorts.
Anyway, this is how I think about it

There's a small window in life when your parents are healthy, your children are little, and everyone is happy and together. It feels like it will last forever, it won’t. Cherish every moment of it.
Marcus Aurelius wrote this over 1800 years ago:
“When you arise in the morning think of what a privilege it is to be alive, to think, to enjoy, to love.”

This was the time of 2024, where I had position in relatively new meme coin that got rugged pull but my bull run thesis for Doge worked & I was able to hit my target.
Lost everything with option trading, since then I am sulking but I will be back this year again #2026
LKY in 2003 answered a heated question regarding the continued presence of foreign workers in the Singapore during the post SARS period of economic uncertainty.
'Development and innovation comes from competition but Trump is too dumb to understand that'
This is the beauty of our Sanatan Dharma that we allow both believers and non believers debate and discuss our Dharma and in the end the doubters don’t end up ostracized or even beheaded.
I've traded since 1974. I've had 4 losing years. There are some conclusions I've come to understand as absolute truths (absolute because the apply to everyone, no exceptions).
I have no control over the outcome of my trades. Zero. Anyone who tells you different is a untrustworthy liar. I could use a harsher description but I won't.
The only thing I can control are the orders I place - market, size, order type, price. That's it. Those are the four things I can control. Only these things. Nothing else.
I have no say if my next trade will win or lose. I have no say if my next five trades are winners. I have no say if 15 of my next 20 trades are losers.
A trader can only control those things that are controllable. What a market will do is NOT controllable.
What my next trade will do is not controllable.
I repeat, anybody on social media who tell you they know what a market will do or that they know they will be profitable in X of the next Y trades is a flat out liar who you should immediately un-follow.
But many of you will never figure out these truths. And you will waste years of your live trying to be a trader without success. Why, because you will lack the level of deep introspection needed to succeed. You will be a liar to yourself.
Of course a small percent of people who want to pursue trading as a profitable career will succeed. My hat is off to you. I respect all traders who wade through enough mud to make it to dry land.
I do not mean to be discouraging. Not at all. I just mean to tell it like it is -- whether you want to believe me or not is up to you.
Market, order type, size price. That's it. Those are the only things you can control.

You won't believe what they're doing in China.
This is the Chinese port in Guangzhou.
People unload ships remotely with 5G, AND THEN, AI vehicles automatically drive the containers to trucks and load them, without human assistance.
