KS is one of the least restrictive states in regards to public safety regs for firearms. Firearm related injuries/deaths cost KS $5.7 BILLION annually, w/ taxpayers covering $95.1 MILLION. HCR 5020 will undoubtedly cost us more $ and more lives. #ksleg needs to oppose this.
@dalgal412 Tried to cite a precedent without the full scope of the ruling.
And then tried to say people won’t win on overturning previous laws-losing and taking ridiculous cases to court are about the only thing he does know.
An appalling response from Rep. Adam Thomas (R). He believes a working system includes people dying & children being subjected to violence. The disregard to the mental health & well-being of our youth is why we must keep speaking out. Grace responded skillfully. #ksleg
Kansas State Rep. Adam Thomas (R) responds to testimony from Grace Springer, a school shooting survivor from Olathe East High School, boasting that no students died:
"The system worked ... The three people injured were the SRO officer, the assistant principal and the perp."
👑Take action to support the CROWN Act in KS!👑

Accountability & Transparency make everyone safer. @cityoftopeka has had plenty of opportunities to build community-police relationships but create band-aid solutions. It’s time to move forward with real action. @MBAMakingJust
Yesterday was a bit misty out and Ad Astra on top of the capitol building and my husband to my 8 yr old :
Maybe he decided to jump in all the rain puddles and have some fun.
Kid: Or maybe he decided to start a heavy metal band ba-dum-dum-CHING. #ksleg
A true friend to everyone. Jim left a remarkable legacy and I will carry his voice as I keep fighting for common sense gun legislation. ♥️
@HenryMcEric
🧵Topeka,KS @MomsDemand supporter, Jim McHenry, recently passed away, McHenry, a survivor of the 1966 University of Texas mass shooting, never understood why gun violence survivors are expected to go about their lives like nothing happened. https://t.co/l8ewbzHpAq #KSLeg
@SpencerLDuncan Police respond to crime, not prevent it. Increasing funding to social services and providing resources to the neighborhoods that need it most will reduce crime.
Also our police force is very top-heavy with a budget that far exceeds the average for many cities (% wise).
@SpencerLDuncan Social service agencies have been gathering via zoom every wk since the beginning of Covid. Over 30 agencies attend & more on the email list. Each wk we discuss reoccurring issues, provide program updates & brainstorm needs. What’s always missing-city reps & adequate funding.
TOPEKA: This Tuesday, you and your community members will be able to speak directly with your city council candidates. Local elections have an outsized impact on your community; take this opportunity to learn more and discuss the issues you care about.
Greg Abbott and his billionaire mega-donors know private school vouchers are unpopular in Texas.
So they’ve paid for a bunch of poll-tested slogans to sell their scam.
Here’s how to debunk each slogan in 1 minute… #txlege

@NathanSchmidt13@CJOnline@KansasReflector@wibw@KSNTNews@ShawneeCoGOP You’re right on track there. The connections all point to it. The Kirk Cameron book reading event they held at the library was laughable if it wasn’t terrifying. KPI has ran some bashers against their opponent.
