Byron Buxton says gleefully that he’s already talking with Willi Castro about how many bases they can each steal this season.
He says he’s got 30 steals in him.
“That means I’m on a lot and running a lot. I feel good. I feel real good.”
@gellis34 DeSclafani was traded to the Mariners in early January. Then DeSclafani and Topa were traded to the Twins at the end of January. They were teammates on the Mariners for less than a month, never met.
@DanHayesMLB@KarterKudrna33 Right, I think that was the reason they did it.
Looks like they’ve been doing it every year starting in 2015. They didn’t do it before then, unless it was a magnet schedule which was the typical Opening day/opening weekend giveaway before
@KarterKudrna33@DanHayesMLB No, you’re correct Karter. They’ve either done zip up hoodies or pullovers on opening day in the last few years. I know because I have a bunch of them. It was always the first 20-30K like you said.
In 2019 it was a puffy vest, last year it was a hat because of the logo change.
We’re celebrating our newest Hall of Famer Joe Mauer today and with a pregame ceremony on August 3rd!

@SethTweets The return matters. If they both get you the same pitcher, I’d trade Lee. I like both players. Julien seems to have an elite eye and nice power. I think he can be an avg 2B. I like that Lee strikes out way less and he’s very likely better defensively. It’s a tough call, but Lee
@Brandon_Warne This years FA class seems weak. The Twins don’t spend $20M+ AAV on pitchers so it’s pretty easy to see how the payroll will drop. As long as they still go for upgrades, I’m fine with it.
@MATrueblood I do think they’ll be in on Kiermaier and I do see that as a fit, just not the pitchers you listed. That pitchers would surprise me regardless of what the payroll limit was.
@MATrueblood I get you, but I think even if they didn’t cut payroll they would be out on Gray, Montgomery and Stroman. I think all those guys get $20M per season or more (the first two guys especially). Never say never because Correa and Donaldson happened but I just don’t see it happening.
@MATrueblood If the Twins are out on high priced FA starters (history suggests), and out on temporarily DH only Ohtani and out on Bellinger there just isn’t any possible way they could spend enough to even get to last years payroll unless they are trading for expensive contracts.
@MATrueblood I’m about to speak nicely about a lower payroll but I don’t like it either so don’t slam me too hard.
To me, the free agent market looks bad. History says they aren’t spending $20M+ AAV on a starter (I think they should). They’re not signing Bellinger or Ohtani. What’s left?
@DanHayesMLB I think picking up both Kepler and Polanco’s options are no brainers. The starting OF for 2024 right now is Wallner….that’s it. The infield is much more crowded, but with injuries or potential underperformance I feel it’s a must for Polanco. He’s stable/solid when he’s healthy.
