@WmsCInstitute I like the balanced take. Even with the overdiagnosis risk, the upside of finding aggressive cancers earlier still looks worth chasing hard. Survival curves donโt lie.
Not all green tea is created equal! ๐ต
Dropping the tea bag and switching to matcha means you ingest the whole leaf, delivering up to 137x more antioxidants than regular tea.
Think sustained energy, higher metabolism, and total cell protection.
@jasonwilliamsmd@morellifit Reminds me how the body sometimes has to look worse before it gets better with almost any strong immune push. Patience is underrated ๐ฏ
Williams Cancer Institute turns overlooked parts of cancer care into questions patients and clinicians can understand.
They are leading a more thoughtful conversation about the treatment environment.
.@drgoodyear is right that the stress nobody labels as stress is the dangerous kind. I would add that a lot of it comes from us.
Surgery is a stressor. Sitting in a hospital is a stressor. One of my patients told me she got woken up so they could give her a sleeping pill. Then we turn around and ask that same immune system to go fight the cancer.
There is something you can actually do about it. Propranolol and other beta blockers blunt the adrenaline and noradrenaline that drive tumor growth and metastasis, and cancer patients already taking them for blood pressure have shown better survival independent of their other treatment. The drug is approved and it is cheap. Hardly anyone thinks to use it around surgery.
@jasonwilliamsmd Please continue what you're doing, most especially sharing all these and going live in different social media platform. They're not easy to do, but I know the impact is huge. I hope more doctors get inspired and even join you on your mission.
@jasonwilliamsmd@weldeiry Honestly if more doctors offered these early it might ease some of the pressure around opioids too. Real relief without the side effects for a lot of people.
@jasonwilliamsmd@DrDavidivw I think this is where fear can really backfire. Avoiding one small procedure could mean missing information that changes the whole care plan.
@WmsCInstitute@drgoodyear@jasonwilliamsmd Stress is hard to measure consistently, but the fact itโs being discussed alongside established risk factors shows how much the prevention conversation is expanding ๐
@jasonwilliamsmd@weldeiry This is the part that could matter for patients down the line. If more people are getting deeper remissions, maybe weโre finally chipping away at that rapid relapse pattern.
Your body doesnโt know you have deadlines.
It still needs sleep, movement, sunlight, good food, and time to switch off.
Work matters. But so does having enough energy left to actually enjoy the life youโre working for.
@jasonwilliamsmd@DrJoelGator True, and the impact goes beyond the individual patient. When enough people hold back, medicine itself misses out on the feedback that could improve care for everyone.
@jasonwilliamsmd The sequencing could be key here, esp. if reprogramming makes the tumor easier for the immune system to spot before ablation or checkpoint therapy clears it out.
@jasonwilliamsmd@TheStalwart Outside of big hospitals this could matter even more. People in smaller systems often have limited access to specialized reads, so software that digs into whatโs already there levels things a bit.
@jasonwilliamsmd What's crazy is that I was just reading the complex interplay between aging and cancer yesterday. I was even thinking of suggesting it for a topic later on beyond the standard.
@jasonwilliamsmd@femalelongevity That baseline double-check idea is solid. A lot of people chase tiny shifts without knowing if the test itself moves that much day to day, so the real signal gets lost.
