@RVanderblight American here. How do they say pasta in Cornwall? Genuinely intrigued. Cornish seems so vastly different from other accents in the south.
A Flood Advisory has been issued for parts of the Savannah Metro Area east to Tybee Island through 845 PM. As much as 2 to 3.5 inches of rain has fallen since late this afternoon. An additional 1 to 2 inches could lead to urban flooding. #gawx#savwx
🌀 The 2026 hurricane season officially begins on Monday. Here's my top-level discussion on what to expect throughout the season and over the next couple weeks.
548 PM: Emergency management observations and unofficial rain gages are showing nearly 4 inches of rain has fallen over parts of Statesboro, GA since 445 PM. Flooding of low-lying and poor drainage areas is likely in progress. Turn Around, Don't Drown! #gawx
I don’t know who needs to hear this, but for future reference on mysterious booms.
Military fighters cannot fly supersonic over populated areas of the country unless it’s a 9/11 type event. Yes, sometimes they make oopsies, but those oopsies are usually confined to a very small area, not half of a state.
Going further, even if the boom today was caused by military jets (wasn’t), their sonic boom can only be heard about 1 mile laterally for every 1,000ft of elevation. Given the area involved today, it would’ve taken a jet flying near the top of their operating envelope (over 50,000ft) to maybe be heard over a 50 mile wide area and it would’ve had to have been in continuous supersonic flight from Florence to Augusta which makes it even more implausible in this situation.
The energy required to produce that explosive boom and its pressure wave today was orders of magnitude greater than what an F-22/35/16/15/ETC is capable of.
The Beruit explosion was the largest non nuclear explosion in history and it was heard up to 120 miles away. Today was heard from at least Florence, SC to Augusta, GA which is like 140 miles.
Do the math.
