I think this is one of the worst takes I’ve seen on The Drama. Emma isn’t infantilized at all. She’s a woman who made a serious mistake in her youth and has grown beyond that dark period. She just wants to move forward, which sets her apart from Rachel, who treats her past mistake as something trivial.

The idea that Emma “should have had friends” ignores who she is. She’s always been solitary, shaped by bullying and low self-esteem. Even when she found community in the anti-gun movement, those relationships were built on a lie, so it makes sense she didn’t keep them.

Her difficulty forming deep connections is also consistent with her trauma. She maintains mostly surface-level relationships, which isn’t bad writing…it’s a realistic portrayal of how trauma can affect trust and connection.

Critiques like this often come from pre-formed negative opinions, where the interpretation is forced to justify disliking the film rather than engaging with what it actually shows.
