Really not his fault though, that was the worst offensive line performance I’ve ever seen. Guy’s playing complete hero ball out there as a 22 year old. He’d have to have played perfectly to have any semblance of a decent game, and even then, the oline would prob hold.

@MarkMinassian @SavageSports_ I agree he could have been really good, and his efforts in SB51 make him worth the draft pick inherently, but in terms of talent that helped the team out long-term, can’t say he counts. Definitely a huge what-if tho he’s the closest to an exception.

@LosTalksPats @SleeperNFL @Patriots Literally carrying the entire team on his back. The turnovers are worse on the statsheet than they are on the field. That “game losing” interception might as well have been a turnover on downs, he was otherwise accurate in spite of momentum-crushing playcalling.

Maye absolutely carried the team all game. There’s no difference between an interception in that moment and just not picking up the first down, but people would be complaining a lot less in that case.

@HebHammer94 My case in point is the start of this drive. When Maye has the ball in his hands, we can move the ball. Whether it’s passing or scrambling.

@HebHammer94 Our offense moves the ball when the ball is in the QBs hands. The drives stagnate when we start running on 1st down, yet AVP keeps calling 1st down runs. It’s not a coincidence, it’s a pattern.

@HebHammer94 Hard to get predicted when you have a QB that can extend plays like Maye does. Once one facet of the offense opens up, the other follows. Get the passing game going first, since the run game isn’t, and then hammer it once they start predicting throws. Common sense playcalling.

@HebHammer94 Didn’t stop them the past few weeks. This is the most stagnant the offense has looked since Maye took over. To your point about the Oline, the run game is not an option currently. Hammering it every 1st down is counterintuitive when you have a QB who can extend plays himself.

@HebHammer94 I’d argue the playcalling is the predominant reason why we’re so stagnant today, even more so than prior weeks. There’s a noticeable difference in how open the playbook is today, compared to the last couple games. Almost like they have training wheels on Maye.

@mgoldsmith457 You could have any coach in, it wouldn’t matter. Maye is so obviously the better player that you would be telling your team, “hey guys, we give up.” The receivers won’t run hard. Nobody would practice hard. This isn’t basketball, next year a LOT of these guys are still here.

@mgoldsmith457 Maye puts you in the best position to win. If you want a mutiny in the locker room, and to completely stunt the development of any young talent on the team, then you bench Maye. It’s literally not an option to tell a 53-man roster that you don’t want to win.

@mgoldsmith457 You risk losing everything by showing the guys who are risking their careers on a weekly basis, that you value one guy over the rest of the team. Can’t bench your best player bc of injury concerns. If he was still a raw prospect I’d agree but these guys see him in practice too.
