@braunfarm Depends rotation, soil sample, and type of N applied. Split apply and placement are key if you’re going to push on less nitrogen in light soil. I have surprised what some strip trials have shown on top dressed corn as to how far down you can push on the right year.
@Shit_Steve_Sez_@Humanspective This here is a great question I’d like someone to elaborate on. “Hot spot” maps from Parkinsons (which is supposedly the most prevalent after roundup exposure) doesn’t seem to correlate with those using the product. Only a quick dive while waiting in line here.
@Qconnealy19 How about team “never stop planting” . Put these on this girl couple weeks ago so solar flares aren’t even a thought. Never have understood taking markers off to install weights on the end of the bar.
@sf28430 Just overbook yourself with winter projects so no matter what your “late” getting to the field. Then your just on your own schedule and the neighbors don’t matter. Usually keeps me from doing something dumb in the spring.
@ksufearless Similar experience here. 3 different auctions for a building site, one for land, and one for the both together. We were highest bidder for 2 of 3 so we got “first choice”. They wanted more than our bid for both but was able to buy the building site. Crooked if you ask me.
@iamyourfarmer I feel this post right to my bones. Lath and plaster all the way around and then to matchup the “new” addition from 86’ with old rough cut. Did all the windows couple years before, almost everything gets custom built/modified to fit. About 70% done ourselves. PITA!!
@6Shittalkerffs We own and use an old elevator…. This here is my nightmare. This fall I was running the elevator dumping corn trucks and drying corn. City guys started a fire in the ditch 200yards to the north, I lost a year or two running around trying to find the fire in the building. 🤦♂️
@LorneMc @4FAngusBoy Ha, this is exactly what my 65 year old dad did. Hasn’t had cattle since I swas born 36 years ago. Couple 3-4 weeks ago just up and decided to get cattle, and since then havnt seen him do anything but be an operator around here during harvest.
@silagechopper@cowbroker Bingo…. but also havnt upgraded any tractors in 8 years. I’ll spend money if it does something better/faster, more flexible, or twice as efficient. Still having problems finding anything that can fall under those categories on the regular when it comes to tractors.
@ISchmidtFaced Just another day in malt barley production. I still haven’t figured out how to raise this 2 row barley without it lodging. We got lucky and didn’t have any big, heavy storms the last 20 days before harvest this year so it was reasonable.
@BeetfarmerDave Started doing topdressing as part of nitrogen plan couple years ago. Have seen a good response in light soils. Biggest trick with dry N is getting a good rain soon after to get into soil efficiently. Helps on our farm to take pressure off dry application in the spring.
@farmmillennial Got one during harvest 2 years ago. 11:30 at night leaving the field for home (5 miles). Pulled over for headlight out (no ticket) and cited for seatbelt. This all while in farming operations, field to the farm. I should have fought it but wasn’t worth my time during harvest.
@A_Hoff17@braunfarm We started this 2 years ago and starting to get things ironed out. Biggest hill is butts in seats, so this has helped move application hours out a little later in the year. Bigger window there most years.
