@AndrewChesser I'm intensely interested in how this was possible with so little loss of life - there were more heart attacks than violent deaths. All I can find is that gov forces (and as far as I can tell, directed by Muriel, a black D and not a white R) underestimated and did not prepare.

@AndrewChesser ...her security plan was influenced in response to the the tactics used against BLM, which were widely regarded as heavy handed. Muriel isn't exactly a white supremacist. They did end up using gas and typ. riot dispersal tactics after regrouping, but it was not part of init plans

The 2nd amendment doesn't exist to increase safety, it exists because any system where government has a monopoly on violence is worse.

The right exists whether or not the 2nd amendment does.

@leila_gardner @JulieCareyNBC @nbcwashington Leila, most of the people who support these new laws are not very informed about the existing laws or the technical terms that are used. It is a bit like someone who doesn't care about soccer updating the rules. If possible, have a meat-space discussion with a gun owner.
