It has been a truly inspiring and impactful few days in Borno State.

My sincere appreciation and congratulations to our incredible @UNDPNigeria team in Maiduguri. Their tireless dedication, working alongside @BornoGovt, is helping translate recovery into resilience, strengthen communities and create pathways towards lasting peace. I leave deeply inspired by what partnership and local leadership can achieve.

A special thank you to my brother, friend and colleague, @cheikh7735, Representative of @UNODC_Nigeria, for joining us and for his steadfast commitment to our shared work across the Humanitarian-Development-Peace Nexus in the North-East.

There is a bigger story unfolding in Borno, one of opportunity, ingenuity and peace, I experienced it first-hand during my time in Borno.

The #BornoModel Project Board and UN Peacebuilding Fund Steering Committee Meeting took stock of this progress and outlined next steps.

With the visionary leadership of H.E. @ProfZulum, Borno is demonstrating possibility in practice.

My appreciation to Hon. @atikuabagudu, and representatives from @NigeriaGov and @BornoGovt for their leadership. Thank you to all partners that have stayed the course, @GERinNigeria, @UKinNigeria, Switzerland, @EUinNigeria and the wider development community for investing in Borno’s future.

Together, under the leadership of RC/HC @MohamedFall, the @UN_Nigeria family: @UNICEF_Nigeria, @UNODC_Nigeria, @IOM_Nigeria, @UNDPNigeria, is advancing a shared ambition for a more resilient, prosperous and peaceful Borno.

Borno has what it takes to become a frontier for peace, resilience and innovation, where technology and local ingenuity converge 🔀 for lasting impact.

At the Peace & Resilience Tech #UniPod 💡 at @uni_maid, I met with VC Prof. Mohammed Laminu Mele and saw how innovation can become a tool for opportunity, resilience and peace.

Together the #UniPod network across 🇳🇬, including the UniPod at @uni_maid, is a connected innovation ecosystem taking ideas from research to impact.

My appreciation to @NigeriaGov through the leadership of H.E. VP @officialSKSM, for advancing this ambition, to Hon. @DrTunjiAlausa and @NigEducation for driving its translation into action and to @TETFundNg for commitment and investment.

In Maiduguri, I experienced the #BornoModel in action, turning recovery into resilience through skills, enterprise & opportunity.

At Muna Vocational Centre, young women are breaking barriers in traditionally male-dominated trades, while young people connect skills to finance, markets, jobs & enterprise. This is transition beyond crisis, restoring agency and enabling people to shape their own futures.

I commend @NigeriaGov for its continued commitment to supporting Borno State’s recovery and resilience, and extend my appreciation to H.E. Governor @ProfZulum for his leadership and dedication in driving this transformation.

At the opening of the Nigerian Computer Society Conference, His Excellency, Governor Caleb Mutfwang, welcomed IT professionals from across the country to the Home of Peace and Tourism, reaffirming Plateau's identity as a land of diversity, opportunity, and innovation.

The Governor highlighted the administration's commitment to using technology as a catalyst for economic growth, improved governance, and poverty reduction. From deploying digital solutions in public service delivery to establishing innovation hubs in partnership with the UNDP, Plateau is laying the foundation for a technology-driven future.

He challenged stakeholders to harness innovation to solve critical development gaps,from increasing agricultural productivity and modernizing livestock production to creating opportunities that will transform lives and strengthen Nigeria's economy.

As he officially declared the conference open, Governor Mutfwang reaffirmed Plateau State's readiness to collaborate, innovate, and lead in building a digitally empowered Nigeria.

In line with the UNSG Action Agenda on Solutions, @YobeStateGovt inaugurated the State Advisory Committee on Durable Solutions to address the issue of prolonged displacement in northeast 🇳🇬. @UNDP will support in developing the State Action Plan for lasting solutions for IDPs.

Ever since my son was born, I wake up every single day—yes, every day—with a fright, pondering how his life might unfold if I don’t live long enough. You try to make plans for him (and his sibling) but still worry it might not be sufficient. Then, you see some gate-man earning a salary of N30,000, with two wives and nine children. I always wonder how they manage to sleep with this burden staring them in the face.

Today, we joined our @UN and @UNDP colleagues around the world to observe a minute of silent to mourn and honour our colleagues killed in Gaza.

The @UN flag was lowered to half-mast as a sign of respect on this solemn occasion.
