Just opened a letter from a middle schooler named Sadie. It read:
“Book banning is bad. We could be living in a world where people are allowed to read what they want and filter books for themselves.”
Listen to Sadie!

High school students need time and space to read for pleasure. “If we don’t encourage and create spaces for students to choose their own books … how can we expect them to read books that are more challenging?” https://t.co/KDVKKKaAhh
The only argument book banners have right now is classic gaslighting 101: “Book Bans are a hoax!” Welp, there’s a lot of school communities with plenty of receipts that say otherwise. You can’t just change the name of a word because you feel like it.
New school library legislation would fight back against disinvestment and censorship in our school libraries! Join me in telling Congress to support the Right to Read Act, introduced by @SenJackReed and @RepRaulGrijalva. https://t.co/Moq2OScIUN via @LibraryPolicy
NY Public Library is letting everyone read for free. The recent attempted and successful book banning, primarily on titles that explore race, LGBTQ+ issues, religion, and history, are an attack on democracy. Knowledge is power; ignorance is dangerous. #LetAmericaRead
