FE colleges started as a means for working class people to educate themselves and improve their lives.
This hasn't changed. What has changed is how FE is valued.
The change we need in FE is going to be delivered by industrial action but also by political change.

Despite having a paid carers leave policy, @QMUL marked International Women's Day by refusing this leave to women in cleaning services who need to look after their kids during next week's school closures (cause it’s not an “emergency”). Remote training/working was also declined⤵️

Our branch voted unanimously to continue strike action this week so we will be out on strike 25-29 September ✊✊✊ we are still fighting against pay deflation, inequalities, casualisation and unsafe workloads #UCURising 🔥🔥🔥
Local strike commences.
Management tried to divide us, making every School and every MABber feel they were exposed. We won't let them, and gather together with colleagues from across the university. Individual Schools aren't the problem; management-by-intimidation is.
Our Branch Meeting once again confirmed we are going on strike next week. We'd want to use that time to meet students, prepare classes, get excited about the year, but instead we have to use it to make our senior management do the bare minimum. Because they don't listen to reason
Akwaaba Kids provides children from migrant families with a fun, inclusive space of their own. We need more volunteers as a shortage means we are struggling to stay open. If you’d like to be a part of it, go here for more info: https://t.co/g9bdtDJ6Jg & pls help spread the word!
Join our #solidarity rally tmrw outside @StMungos London HQ from midday.
“St Mungo’s now needs to focus on solving this long running dispute. They need to stop looking for ways to break the strike and start looking for ways to solve it.” @UniteSharon

** @QMUL THREATEN TO DEDUCT 86 DAYS **
Today, senior management at Queen Mary Univesity contacted 3 schools threatening 2 further months (4 in total) of 100% deductions for participation in the MAB. There was no consultation or notification.
We will not be starved into marking.
#RCN members take to the pickets again today.
Our fight is your fight.
A win for us, is a win for patient safety and the future sustainability of the NHS.
Please retweet if you stand with us 💙
