The E30 320is was an anomaly inside BMW’s own range, not a mainstream performance model and not positioned as a halo car.
Built for just Italy and Portugal, it used a high-revving four-cylinder derived from M engineering but displacement of the S14 engine remained below 2 liters, because of taxes.
