Today marks the start of #BlackHistoryMonth
UF BME will be highlighting influential Black voices in our community. Our first spotlight is associate professor, Dr. Lakiesha Williams. Read more in our #amplifyingBlackvoices magazine: https://t.co/nGM9dnq18F (P16-17) @drlwilliams
The UF Diversity and Inclusion Initiative is a group formed by @UFBME to promote diversity in innovation and inclusion of members throughout STEM. Their next meeting is today @ 1:30PM. Students, check your email for Zoom info.
Happy friday everyone! We have some exciting interactive events coming up this summer - keep an eye out for the announcements!
In the mean time, get your friends to follow us so they can participate too 😊
Time for the social distancing friendly event- a recipe challenge!
Step 1: Share your favorite recipes that remind you of home
2: Make some of the recipes (try something new!)
3: Share a photo or video of your creations using #UFDIIshes and tag your friends to challenge them
Having any trouble thinking up workouts to do at home during this time?
Be sure to check out our facebook page because our member @Sarahebethlong is posting some great content to keep everyone moving!
We will provide you with updates about the format in the coming days. We urge all of you to stay healthy by avoiding large gatherings, practicing social distancing, and washing your hands frequently.
Best,
BME GSC
As the University works to help prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus, it falls on BME GSC to do our part as well. We will be cancelling all coffee breaks and Friday socials for the foreseeable future, at least until UF deems it safe for classes to be held in person again.
We're still working out what to do about GBMs, but as of right now we're leaning towards Zoom meetings. We still have things to discuss, and elections must be held in May. The next GBM is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday March 25.
Reminder about our coffee break today from 3-4 pm in JG32. Consider coming and grabbing a coffee and sticking around for the @UFBME Black History Month Panel at 4:30 in the same room!
Did you know that BME has a librarian assigned to assist our department??
Her name is Amy Buhler, and is a fantastic resource for professional development, literature review assistance, and so much more.
Check out https://t.co/NnmwUSAV47 to contact her and get more information!
Our first coffee break of the year will be next Wednesday from 3-4 pm in JG32. Join us for good conversation with your fellow BME students and faculty!
