Today, we remember and honour the victims of Soviet deportations that took place 85 years ago. Stalin’s crime devastated the lives of thousands of families. 🕯️
“They tried to erase their names, their homes, their language, their faith, their whole way of life, but they did not succeed. So here together, we honour these people. We take back their memory, and we bring it into the light,” said @EP_President Roberta Metsola.

Congratulations to PM @NikolPashinyan and the Armenian people on this decisive vote.
Armenia has chosen democracy, sovereignty, and a European path, rejecting Russia’s colonial grip.
The EU must answer this historic choice with real commitment. 🇦🇲🇪🇺
As part of the mission of the European Parliament’s LIBE Committee to London, a full day of meetings was dedicated to key issues related to security, justice, and the protection of fundamental rights.
Discussions focused on strengthening cooperation between the European Union and the United Kingdom in the fight against organised crime and terrorism, enhancing collaboration between judicial authorities and law enforcement agencies, tackling money laundering, and addressing the challenges arising from technological innovation. Particular attention was also given to the protection of children online and to ensuring a safer digital environment. Especially valuable was the exchange with British parliamentarians, whom I warmly thank for their hospitality and openness to dialogue, as well as with representatives of civil society and organisations supporting victims of sexual violence.
A common message emerged from all these meetings: only through cooperation, dialogue, and the sharing of experiences can we effectively address increasingly complex challenges and ensure the effective protection of fundamental rights. @EP_Justice
Organised crime, migration, online threats and child protection were at the heart of our discussions in London.
Europe’s security also depends on effective cooperation with trusted partners such as the United Kingdom. 🇪🇺🇬🇧
📍LIBE Mission to the UK.
On 20 July 1974, Turkish armed forces invaded the Republic of Cyprus and, following a second large-scale offensive on 14 August 1974, expanded their occupation to approximately 36% of the territory of the Republic of Cyprus. The invasion resulted in the forced displacement of hundreds of thousands of people and was accompanied by widespread human rights violations, including killings, enforced disappearances, and acts of violence against civilians. Women and girls were particularly affected, with many becoming victims of sexual violence, abuse, and other forms of gender-based violence.
Today, for the first time, the Committee on Women’s Rights and Gender Equality adopted a resolution addressing the impact of the 1974 Turkish invasion on Cypriot women and girls. The resolution highlights the crimes and human rights violations committed against women, including cases of sexual violence, and examines their long-term consequences for gender equality, social inclusion, and the lives of survivors and their families. It also calls for accountability, justice, and support for victims.

Dear Belarusians,
Since 2020, through your courage and struggle - and @Tsihanouskaya’s work - Belarus is back on Europe’s political agenda.
On the Day of Solidarity with Political Prisoners in Belarus, my message is clear:
Your efforts for democratic Belarus help Ukraine.
The European Parliament, under the leadership of the EPP Group, took a major step forward today by recognising care as one of Europe’s key social, economic and democratic pillars, with the adoption of the report on Advancing Towards a Care Society. Unfortunately, the Socialists chose to turn their backs on the report and abstained in the final vote.
After more than a year of negotiations in Parliament’s employment and gender equality committees, the S&D Group abandoned the report on one of Parliament’s most important social initiatives.

What is illegal offline must be illegal online. This is not just common sense. It is a matter of justice.
Protection and justice should be the rule across the Union.
The EPP Group calls for a ‘European Coco's Law’ to criminalise severe online abuse
⬇️ More from @tomastobe
On Thursday, the European Parliament will vote on a resolution addressing cyberbullying and online harassment at EU level.
Among other points, we call for swift EU action to restore a legal framework allowing platforms to voluntarily detect child sexual abuse material online and to ensure a safe digital space for children that respects their fundamental rights.
🚨 Children are in need across Europe, and the silence is deafening.
“Why, when we have the technology to detect, report, and remove online child abuse material, and to catch the perpetrators, are we not using it?” – a survivor asks us, looking straight into our hearts.
Today, the tools that let us spot abuse and help the police are gone. The EU rules that forced platforms to act expired on 3 April.
Every day with this legal vacuum means another child can be hurt, another voice will stay silent, and another survivor will have to stand where we are now, pleading for help that came too late.
Protect children, not predators!
Imagine getting back home from school, dropping your bag, and seeing your phone light up.

At first, you think it’s a group chat - friends, plans, something funny, but it’s not. It’s insults, screenshots, and messages piling up faster than you can read them. And there is no way to stop it.
For many young Europeans, this is not a story. It’s an everyday reality that must end.
At the EPP Group, we are working towards stronger EU action to end online abuse:
Clearer and stronger rules across European countries.
Faster removal of harmful content from online platforms, and real consequences for those who abuse and those who allow it.
Because the online space must be a safe place for everyone. And what is illegal offline must be also illegal online.
Let’s criminalise cyberbullying across the EU!
👏@JackieFox21 achieved great things.
Her determination has made cyberbullying a criminal offence in Ireland. Now, bullies are held accountable, and no family should have to suffer the same injustice.
🇪🇺 We have picked up the baton to criminalise online harassment across Europe.
Let’s make ‘Coco’s Law’ a European law!
Tonight is the victory of the people of Hungary 🇭🇺! They confirm that our centre-right, people-first politics win elections.
Substance. Solutions. Unity—not empty slogans and fears.
Congratulations Tisza & @EPPGroup MEP Peter Magyar 👏!
Hungary is back at the heart of Europe 🇪🇺
“A major victory for the people of Hungary🇭🇺 – and a strong signal for Europe🇪🇺!
This result reflects the clear democratic choice of Hungarian voters.
Congratulations to Tisza and to our EPP Group MEP Peter Magyar (@magyarpeterMP) on this decisive win.
I am proud of what Peter Magyar and Tisza as members of our EPP family have achieved in these elections - winning the trust of the majority of Hungarians.
This election confirms a simple truth: we win with substance, not slogans. When we focus on improving people’s lives – higher wages, secure jobs, and real economic opportunities – while grounding our approach in European solidarity and cooperation, we build trust and deliver results.
This is how we defeat right-wing populists who thrive on division: with credible solutions, unity, and a politics that puts citizens first.
Now is the moment to welcome Hungary back to the heart of Europe. We must work together on the key challenges ahead: security, migration, and prosperity for all.
The message is clear: center-right politics that deliver on people’s needs win elections – and that is how we overcome populism,” says EPP Group Chairman @ManfredWeber.
On behalf of TS-LKD, I congratulate 🇭🇺 Tisza party, along with its leader Péter Magyar, on their impressive victory in the parliamentary elections.
The people of Hungary have chosen to return to the European family!
