@Daves1412@CptHastings1916 Does not change the fact it is not judicial with relevant safeguards
Current MPs in the Cttee, 4 Lab, 2 Con and 1 Lib Dem, no Reform, and 7 anti-Reform
As with Starmer MPs from largest party can shield their MPs.
Cttee did not even look at the case so how can you say vacuous
@Daves1412@CptHastings1916 That is *exactly* the point, the Parliamentary Standard process is not a judicial institution, and does not have the rules and independence that would be required.
Note Starmer dodged it by getting his MPs to vote against an investigation (re Mandelson).
@CountBinface@DaleVince Steady man, don't get over your skis, no need to declare yet as not a MP, lets see what the voters think.
...and yes would be really silly not to declare if your were an MP.
@LukeTryl It is a very real by-election (even if called for no good reason) and other parties treating it as a joke, or a laugh when peoples representation in Parlmnt is at stake could not be a worse look (for me).
'We will not stand but are with Mr shits & giggles BinMan' does not help.
@r_stwrt_ Paging Josh Simonsπ.
I object to Farage standing down, and in general believe a full term should be served.
But useful if MP changes party (agree on standing down then) and also may be other exceptions.
@janeclarejones No please, you mean βthe twee British peopleβ.
Fair enough it is a real demographic but there is more to Britain than HIGNFY, Rest is Politics and knitted postbox covers (ah, great idea, BinMan needs one).
Like democrats who think by-elections are not just for 'shit & giggles'
@JohnJCrace Why do you ask, need a new target for allegations?π
>How can we beat Reform?
At the ballot box of course
(wait for laughter to die down)
>No come on we need serious ideas
Got it, you know people in the media right? Sleaze, that's it, sleaze, throw the mud and do not stopπ
@donmcgowan Yes, leave that to your political rivals in Parliament
Keir Starmer lied about Mandelson's appointment but lucky for him his rivals were the minority
Need a better system to enforce the rules, one independent and one based on judicial levels of evidence etc
@ThatTimWalker@CountBinface Martin Bell he is not.
Surely if the other parties want to fight Farage they would field candidates not leave it to BinMan who really is just there for 'shits & giggles'.
@tobytarrant "Are they starting to get worried Farage could actually lose to a bin?"
To be fair, if that was the case, Reform would simply not stand a candidate like the other parties who think they cannot win.
The reaction of broadcasters to Gary Stevenson's falsehoods reminds me of the way the old media indulged Carole Cadwalladr's conspiracies after the Brexit vote.
Both were allowed to peddle their deranged theories unchallenged simply because they were telling the liberal left what it wanted to hear.
@LukeTryl It is a very real by-election (even if called for no good reason) and other parties treating it as a joke, or a laugh when peoples representation in Parlmnt is at stake could not be a worse look (for me).
'We will not stand but are with Mr shits & giggles BinMan' does not help.
@PippaCrerar Thought Manchester had a Mayor?
Was a by-election and a mayoral election called just because of the ego of one man? amazing.
Burnham and Farage could compare notes π
@PensionsMonkey It will change nothing and, yes, he must be held accountable.
Note Keir avoided an investigation by his party voting to ignore his lies over his appointment of Mandelson - now that is an astonishing attack on accountability in Parliament.
@DiscreetOrElse FFS 'gone without eating' one can guess the background here, there was a poll.
"you said school uniforms are expensive, have you ever considered turning down the heating of eating less to afford it?"
Better say yes Babs...
@DPJHodges Interesting hypothetical. Makerfield by-election called for another reason (other than getting rid of Keir as PM). Would Reform have won an been spurred to greater hights?
