Inspired thoughts department : why not use the line of the already completed HS2 line as a combined high speed cycle way and a dry land linear boat park for folks not wanting to go anywhere. Avoids all those buoyancy worries and takes the pressure off the existing canal network.

Google is my friend, this is somewhere in the #Paddington area and as is typical the towpath is jam packed with boats.

You must have caught it on a lucky day when all the visiting boats had gone home.
