Thank you @AlFajr_FPYA for partnering with us! Explosive ordnance risk education helps youth workers recognize the dangers of explosive remnants of war and share safe behaviours with their communities. 🙏

💙Partnerships save lives.
At the UN House in Abuja, UNMAS Nigeria joined the EU-UN Partnerships for Nigeria’s Future meeting to discuss security challenges and stronger cooperation.
EU support helps deliver risk education, assist victims and support humanitarian efforts.
Safe ground comes first. 🌍
Drones, improvised weapons, protracted conflicts and constrained funding are changing mine action.
Last week UNMAS met Member States to discuss these challenges and share the UNMAS 2026–2030 Strategy.
Thank you to the Member States!

Building on last month’s WAM level 1 course in #Mogadishu, UNMAS & Somali partners have just completed a 3-week IATG Level 2 Ammunition Accountant Course.
Graduates mastered stock audits, inventory control & safety standards, reducing stockpile risks & building national capacity
Grateful to #Australia🇦🇺 & #Germany🇩🇪, who provided funding to deploy crisis management & medical experts to @UNDOF to help strengthen safety & security of our peacekeepers, including through real time casualty evacuation tests. #InvestInPeace
#MineAction leaves almost no margin for distraction. Fatigue, grief, family pressure, poor sleep or fear about events unfolding only kilometres away can all affect the concentration and judgement a deminer depends on to stay alive.
That is why mental readiness has to be treated as part of operational safety, especially in #Yemen.

📍 In El Tambo, Nariño, #UNMAS Colombia led an #EORE workshop with @gobnarino and @ALCALDIAELTAMBO.
👥65 officials, police, health workers, teachers and residents now know how to respond to explosive risks.
🤝Building local capacity with the support of @jica_direct_en#MineAction
With 184,000+ people now displaced in #Yemen, roughly half from #Taiz, @CrisisGroup warns that many families remain unable to return even after fighting subsides near their homes, adding "newly emplaced landmines are another threat."
Fresh #Houthi mine contamination is therefore extending the #humanitarian consequences of the current fighting well beyond the movement of the frontline.
#MineAction #ProtectCivilians
For #MineAction teams, fresh #Houhi mine contamination in #Yemen means new survey, new tasking and new clearance across areas already burdened by years of explosive hazards.
As territory changes hands, both the operational burden and the risk to civilian life increase, with every newly laid #landmine creating another barrier to safe return.
Investing in national capacity means investing in lasting peace. In the Central African Republic, UNMAS and @UNOPS_AFRCent are strengthening local expertise and empowering women officers to take on advanced explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) roles—helping build safer communities.
