1/2 The @nswdpi pilot project to fast-track an mRNA vaccine for border disease virus (BDV) has been successfully manufactured for the first time in NSW by the @UNSWRNA.

[UNSW RNA Institute @UNSWRNA]

Incredible summary from @SelFdz about the very successful @UNSWRNA mission to #Brazil . We are looking forward to expanding our collaborations with a number of Institutes, Companies and Centres in Brazil on advances in (m)RNA Research and Therapeutic development. #mRNA #RNA.

@MK_CCI @KidsCancerInst @NanoMed_UNSW @UNSWMedicine @nhmrc Congratulations Maria!!

[UNSW RNA Institute @UNSWRNA]

We couldn't have done this without you Jeff!! Big thanks to Jeff Welsh who was the key driver in setting up our plasmid and mRNA production capabilities, building on his decades of experience in biotechnology. Thank you Jeff - make the best of your next journey down in Tasmania!

[Palli Thordarson @PalliThordarson]

Thank you Jeff!!! Jeff Welsh @UNSWRNA inargual Production Manager, plasmid & mRNA guru & all around #mRNA legend is leaving us for a life-changing move to Tasmania. Many @UNSWBABS @UNSW will also recognise Jeff for his many contributions to UNSW in the last decades. Cheers Jeff!

[Palli Thordarson @PalliThordarson]

We at the @UNSWRNA were delighted to host Branwen Morgan, Nick Hong Seng Lee & Sarigama Rajesh from @CSIRO We had very fruitful discussions about how we and other RNA R&D groups (incl @TIA_Aust ) can work together to advance RNA therapeutics. #mRNA #ozchem #RNA

[UNSW RNA Institute @UNSWRNA]

This is a great opportunity for those that are developing RNA therapeutics. The @UNSWRNA is very proud to be involved in the BRIDGE program.

[Kirby Institute, UNSW @KirbyInstitute]

Calling on expressions of interest to partner with us to advance your RNA-based research! We're leading a pioneering initiative aimed at enhancing the health & wellbeing of Australians by accelerating the development of RNA-based vaccines & treatments.

Matthew Disney @disney_lab is one of our Advisory Board Members. We are very grateful to him to make the journey here to Sydney to attend our Symposium and Advisory Board meeting last week. Wishing you all the best for the remaining part of your visit to the @UNSWRNA !

[Palli Thordarson @PalliThordarson]

Great to have Matthew Disney @disney_lab Scripps-Florida visiting the @UNSWRNA here today! And tomorrow, Tue 31 Oxt he will give a @UNSWChemSociety Lecture at 3:30 pm in F10-M10. #ozchem #RNA

[UNSW RNA Institute @UNSWRNA]

Congratulations to @UNSWRNA Academic group leader Dr. Selene Ferandez Valverde @SelFdz from @UNSWBABS on her @Nature paper! This important paper describes the Mexican Biobank project which can improve medicine & answer questions about ancestry relevant to Mexico's history. #RNA

[Selene FeRNAndez @SelFdz]

Very excited to share that the first 🇲🇽MX Biobank paper is now out! https://t.co/T5QGPc2vm5

Check out the 🧵👇🏽 This is the first 'big' project I'm involved in from grant writing to publication. A lot of the original grant was written in goblin mode in a Starbucks😅 1/2

[UNSW RNA Institute @UNSWRNA]

Congratulations on to the @KirbyInstitute team including our @UNSWRNA members, A/Prof. Stuart Turville, Prof. Antony Kelleher and Dr. Chantelle Ahlenstiel. We are very proud to be supporting the on-going development of this siRNA COVID-19 treatment.

[UNSW Science @UNSWScience]

1/2 Lab data in cells shows short interfering RNA (siRNA) could treat COVID-19 infection better than current antivirals, in new research from @KirbyInstitute & @UNSWRNA. In cells tested, siRNA treatment reduced virus levels by up to 99.9% for all SARS-CoV-2 variants of concern.

[UNSW RNA Institute @UNSWRNA]

We were delighted to host @Emma4Dobell Emma McBridie MP and Assistant Minister for Mental Health and Suicide Prevention, Assistant Minister for Rural and Regional Health here at the RNA Accelerator to discuss how we can boost the development of RNA therapeutics . #mRNA #RNA

[UNSW RNA Institute @UNSWRNA]

Scott combines approaches from physics and biology to build a quantitative understanding of gene expression at the single-cell level. His current work focuses on understanding how cells precisely control the concentration of mRNA transcripts. 4/4

Fantastic first day here at the Shine-Dalgarno Symposia! So much cool RNA science and history. And a great opportunity for the whole Australian RNA community to meet up!

[Palli Thordarson @PalliThordarson]

Lynn Dalgarno, John Shine & Thomas Preiss @tominaustralia at the opening of the Shine-Dalgarno Centre for RNA Innovation. Lynn made the point that they were just curious- didn't have any special outcome in mind even though their discovery had a huge impact on Biotechnology! #RNA

[Prof Maria Kavallaris AM 🌈 @MK_CCI]

Huge thanks to @CCNewSouthWales for funding our research to improve outcomes for high- risk #neuroblastoma & #sarcoma @KidsCancerInst @UNSWMedicine @NanoMed_UNSW @UNSWRNA #childhoodcancer
