Want to dynamically organise your DNA origami? Willi and the team show that we can leverage non-canonical DNA motifs and photoacids to form micron-length fibers made exclusively of DNA origami - fully recyclable, no mods needed, just use adenines! 🅰️🅰️🅰️https://t.co/96VeYx4AIj
Excited to share it now in its final form in @NatureNano: our approach to decouple sensing from signal output to build modular and tunable DNA origami sensors with high FRET contrast: https://t.co/ycqfsfpSiN 💡🧬🔬
Here is the promised update! Now the EPA has released their statement we can reveal all the disgusting details of the ‘tar balls’....
...which are actually human-generated waste of fat and grease!
Here’s what @UNSWScience and MWAC found… thread below! 🧵
Congrats to Yasmin @FelixRizzuto group & Peeter @Thordarsongroup on completing their Honours Thesis & Presentations! The two groups here @UNSWChemSociety celebrated with you both at a yummy Thai lunch (after a brief interruption from Hilmer Bld emergency drills today)!
Happy to share @CKriebisch's work in @NatureChemistry!
Origin of life research tests how biomolecules like RNA emerge from pools of molecules. The problem is that RNA is unstable.
We built a model and tested production and protection of such molecules.

Check out this article I wrote about our work @UNSWScience on responsive DNA nanomaterials! 🧬 Now out in the @RACInational's quarterly mag. If you're a member, you can check it out here: https://t.co/9hEW4EuGk9
What if we could universally recombine, insert, delete, or invert any two pieces of DNA?
In back-to-back @Nature papers, we report the discovery of bridge RNAs and 3 atomic structures of the first natural RNA-guided recombinase - a new mechanism for programmable genome design
Check out our latest work from @SleimanHanadi's lab in @NatureComms, which shows how length-defined supramolecular DNA nanofibers form dynamically from a special class of DNA-polymer hybrids we call "curlamers".

Our paper on swimming active protein droplets is finally out! 🎊🎉
https://t.co/KAraORBem2
The main result is in the title: "Phase-separated droplets swim to their dissolution".

Adenines keep surprising us... Turns out poly🅰️ sequences 🧬 make supramolecular polymers at low pH - DNA branches and RNA twists! 😱Congrats @LachlanCox on your first paper! 🍾🥂 Check it out here ➡️https://t.co/0F0KTZSGRE @casey_platnich @Biomac_ACS@UNSWChemSociety
And this is finally out! In this new @J_A_C_S paper we report enzyme DNA-based swimmers 🏊🏊🏊driven by enzyme catalysis. Great collaborative work with @tania_patino_ , @erica_delgrosso and the spanish godfather of enzyme motors @SamuelNanobots. Short 🧵 on what we did... 1/n
Turns out a DNA combover is better than a moptop when making DNA origami 🪮💇♂️ but nothing aggregates your structures more than a buzz cut. Our latest collab with Lawrence Lee and led by @j_berengut (who also made this wildly cool cover art!) https://t.co/JFKcJ9QXqi @UNSWScience
Dr. Amani Hariri (@AmaniHariri20) of @UBCChem aims to find solutions to the most pressing problems in healthcare today — ranging from Alzheimer’s disease, cancer & diabetes — through novel methods to measure biological systems at the molecular level.

💡💡💡 Check out our recent paper in collaboration with the Vuckovic lab @StanfordPhoton1 @HTSohLab out now in Advanced Materials ! In this work, we introduce a novel real-time optical biosensor system, for the generalizable biomarker detection in complex samples like human plasma. Our new aptamer switch transforms aptamers into fluorescence probes with tunable affinity and kinetics. Integrated into fiber-optic probes, our sensor showcases real-time optical detection, demonstrating reversible, binding-induced fluorescence responses for Dopamine and Cortisol in complex matrices. This approach promises a universal solution for rapid aptamer-based sensor development in biomedical applications. Read more: https://t.co/jkvg1amiig #biomarker #biosensor
Our group has a 2-year post-doc position to fill *urgently* (start date Jan-Feb 2024)! The research project is quite broad and open (DNA nanotech, sensing, supramol. chemistry, etc)...if anyone is interested please send me a DM or an email for more information. RT appreciated.
