This week we joined @FCDOGovUK,@DCMS, @FA, @ScottishFA, @CanadianUK, and @Embamexru to celebrate the world's biggest sporting event. The @FIFAWorldCup is more than soccer, it's a moment of global unity, shared passion, and diplomacy in action. Wishing every success to the U.S., England, Scotland, Canada, and Mexico as they take to the world stage.
Last night we celebrated 250 years of American independence with an exceptional showcase of food and drink from across the United States. Thank you to all the U.S. food and drink associations whose support helped make this a fantastic celebration of American food and culture.
Two teams. One goal.
While the @USMNT prepares to compete on the world’s biggest stage, our team is working every day to help ensure America is ready to welcome the world in 2026.
It was an honor to spend time with the U.S. Men’s National Team. Their dedication, discipline, and relentless pursuit of excellence reflect the same spirit driving countless people across our country who are working behind the scenes to deliver an unforgettable tournament.
The 2026 @FIFAWorldCup will be more than a sporting event. It will be an opportunity to showcase the very best of America.. our people, our communities, our hospitality, and our ability to bring the world together.
The players are preparing for kickoff.
We’re preparing for a historic moment.
And together, we’ll welcome the world, inspire the next generation, and show what America is capable of.

My time at Washington & Lee University shaped me in so many ways, and I will always be grateful for the friendships, experiences, and values I gained during those years. It was a pleasure to talk with some current students who are visiting Europe about my role as Ambassador. Wishing these thoughtful and talented young people every success for the future.
Harriet and I visited the ancestral home of George Washington to open a special event to mark 250 years of American independence. @SulgraveManor stands as a powerful reminder that the roots of our countries’ partnership run deep, woven into the very fabric of our buildings, our shared heritage, and our enduring beliefs. I can think of few more fitting places to host a conference titled “The U.S.–UK Relationship at 250.”
Welcomed Lieutenant General Buzzard, Commander of Security Assistance Group – Ukraine to Winfield House to discuss the latest situation in Ukraine and the importance of increased defense spending from @NATO members. The United States seeks a peaceful resolution to the war in Ukraine and calls on all members of NATO to share the burden of our collective defense.
I spoke with members of the British-American Project recently about my impressions after serving over one year as Ambassador to the UK, and celebrating 250 years of American Independence. It is groups like this that are the true strength of our alliance - a diverse cross-section of emerging leaders that are working to enrich the partnership between our two countries.
This weekend, we marked 🇺🇸 Memorial Day, when we honor the brave American heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation and our freedom, including those listed or buried at @usabmc Brookwood American Cemetery. We will never forget their service alongside that of our British and Allied counterparts.
“Those who died so our nation could live. And we do intend with all our strength and heart to hold high the torch our heroes handed to us, and we will never, ever let it fall.” - President Donald J. Trump
On Memorial Day at Cambridge American Cemetery, Harriet and I, joined by our family, paid tribute to the Americans who died in service to our country. This cemetery helps maintain our connection to those who died in the Second World War: a war that saw the United States and United Kingdom fight side-by-side with our allies to achieve victory. Most importantly, it reminds us of the price of freedom, the need to savor, protect and preserve the liberty we have today, because others died to defend it. My thanks to @usabmc Commissioner John Freeman, Lord-Lieutenant Mrs. Julie Spence, Major General Akshai Gandhi, and all the distinguished guests for coming together to remember our fallen heroes.
As of May 21, 2026, all U.S.-bound American citizens and lawful permanent residents (LPRs) who have been present in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Uganda, or South Sudan within 21 days of arrival in the United States must only enter through Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) for enhanced screening. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Customs and Border Protection (CBP) will apply enhanced public health screening at IAD in response to the Ebola outbreak. The Dulles requirement applies to all passengers, including U.S. citizens and LPRs, who were present in those countries. Please be prepared for flight changes or cancellations. https://t.co/7gW7cENrVb
This week I was honored to hear His Majesty The King’s speech at the State Opening of Parliament, an important reminder of our shared commitment to democracy and its enduring institutions. Thank you to @CommonsSpeaker Sir Lindsay Hoyle for welcoming me to be part of this historic tradition.
Good conversation with Director General Caro Howell of Imperial War Museums on their upcoming plans to commemorate D-Day, 9/11, and 250 years of American Independence. The @I_W_M are incredible places that give visitors a greater understanding of the history, causes, and consequences of conflict, and also tell the story of the shared sacrifice the people of the U.S. and UK have made throughout history to secure our freedom.
Eton College has a centuries-long tradition of academic excellence that has shaped generations of influential figures across the United Kingdom and beyond. Harriet and I enjoyed a tour of the campus, followed by my remarks where I appreciated the students’ intelligent and thoughtful questions. Thank you to Provost Sir Nicholas Coleridge and Lady Coleridge for their gracious hospitality and Ambassador Buchan and his wife, Hannah, for facilitating the visit.
Met with @LisaNandy to hear more about @DCMS’s plans to join us in celebrating 250 years of American independence. We also discussed the upcoming Greater Together LA delegation, the largest ever UK delegation to the United States that will showcase how U.S.-UK partnerships can continue to drive economic growth and to shape our collective future.
What a weekend of golf at Aronimink! Congratulations, Aaron Rai, for not only winning the @PGAChampionship, but being the first Englishman in over a century to take the Wanamaker Trophy. A memorable way to win your first major title.
Today marks exactly one year since Harriet and I arrived in the UK, and what a year it has been! From trade deals, two visits to the UK from President Trump, including an historic second State Visit, to hosting the Vice President, the Speaker of the House, eight Cabinet secretaries, and a host of senior officials.
Throughout it all, I have been working to deliver @POTUS@RealDonaldTrump’s priorities of making Americans safer, stronger, and more prosperous through our work with the UK, while affirming the shared values that bind our countries.
As we celebrate 250 years of American independence, I am excited to lead @USAinUK in continuing to build on these strong foundations in the coming year. There is truly no partnership like ours, and I am honored to serve and strengthen it every day as U.S. Ambassador to the UK.
Today, we celebrate the mothers whose unwavering love, sacrifice, & strength help mold the heart & soul of our nation.
To the millions of moms across America—& to First Lady Melania Trump & Second Lady Usha Vance—thank you.
Happy Mother’s Day from the White House. 💐🇺🇸
