@pntrack We were mentioned in the original article two years ago. This scoring moved us from 23rd to 8th. Ironically, last year we finished 9th off a shot put title, triple jump runner up, and a discus medal, which emphasizes that the actual meet scoring does not reflect a team effort.
Francis, Icone and Michael did something really special 1 they made it to the biggest meet of the year and performed at the highest level. We added three All State athletes to our list.
Michael finished a historic senior season with the most exciting state meet performance. Down 7” after prelims, he opened up with a lead gaining toss, and grabbed the win with a massive 67’11” on his final throw. This is the 1st time since 1972 that a UT athlete stood at the top.
We’ve got some dudes, but it’s been a long journey. Check out the progression over four years of Michael and Icone. They worked so hard and were incredibly dedicated to improving, and they were really well coached by Martin and Pav. We are so proud of them!
4x1 got some great experience, with 3 being underclassmen, and now they’re all trash talking about tonight’s Race Under the Lights 100m.
Emile ran so well - 14.92 - which was a PR and full second improvement from last year. He’s our first sub-15 since the great D1 Singleton.
Lots of excitement from Charleston! Malal made it cleanly through the high jump to tomorrow’s final. Mike is currently sitting in 2nd in shot, and hungry! Francis secured his spot in the discus - he’s sitting 5th. Icone grabbed the top spot with a very nice 47’7.
Two school records thoroughly smashed! Mike broke his own school record while also adding 7 feet to the conference record with this toss of 66’7”. Icone broke Jean Luc’s triple jump record on all three attempts in the prelims, with his jump of 48’8.25” adding 10” to the record!
