@LeftHandDagger@poperespecter1 One difference is that Catholic school spends far less per student & gets much better results. This partly a selection bias. Catholic schools can screen their students & only parents willing to pay tuition send their kids to them. But the schools are more efficient too.
@_CharlesPreston The main character in backrooms is an upper middle class successful entrepreneur who, although he struggles with alcoholism & a broken marriage, is trying to work through some of his issues in therapy. What's wrong with a bit of complexity in a character?
@BrentAWilliams2 The reason why EMRs are so primitive is that the federal government enshrined a handful of vendors when Obamacare/Meaningful Use was rolled out. There's little competition in the industry & software companies are focused on compliance more than anything else.
@thedulab 💯Easy to be anonymous here because there are so many people and "Keeping up with the Joneses" happens very little because most of the time you no idea who are you dealing with or what their financial situation is based on what they look like.
@FischerKing64 American culture has been de-emphasized for so long, when it's not being attacked, that a lot people don't even seem to know it exists anymore. When I was a kid, the whole neighborhood celebrated the 4th. Now it's something done in private with your closest family.
👇Hollywood & the film school / film festival cartel is set up to reward children of wealthy internationalists who cosplay as poor brown & yellow people while fucking over talented domestic Western talent
Fuck them. Saw Obsession yesterday & I'm seeing Backrooms this week
@robkhenderson He understood the immediate effects of scapegoating which can be positive for those in charge. Question is did he understand or even care that scapegoating allows the real problem to persist, and that eventually it will catch up with you.
@SalomeSibonex@G_S_Bhogal Yep, intelligence is good, but there are more important things. Maybe if more of us stopped holding intelligence in such high regard, and treating it like the talent it is (similar to music, art, athletics, etc.) it would also help us fix education in this country.
@erio1__11@ettingermentum Even non-profits chase money. Execs are compensated on keeping costs low & income high. Usually the justification is that any retained earnings can be redeployed to expand the mission. DEI metrics are gameable. Offshoring reduces overall headcount/denominator in DEI metrics.
@marcin698601@ajlamesa You hold the owner of the plates accountable & let them make sure no-one else uses them. If they get stolen, report them stolen. It's not so different than a car.
@erio1__11@ettingermentum Yep, I worked for 501c3 non profit that had enormous "retained earnings" (aka profit) and still offshored nearly all operations to India under the guise of DEI.
@AutismActionNet@queens_parents@spencerpratt While I agree with you on the gentrification part, it's also clear that there's an organization/political machine supporting these candidates. Voters don't tend to pay attention to primaries, especially for an office like state assembly. If they did we'd get better candidates.
