“Unionism cannot ignore votes at 16” - Jay Basra, Young Unionist
@JayBasra2 recently outlined his thoughts regarding votes at 16 in the newest edition of the Orange Standard.
A very insightful read - Jay argues that Unionism must face this challenge and create opportunities.
It is brilliant to see young unionists leading on the causes that they care about.
Meeting with representatives is essential to making our voices heard, particularly on an issue as important as this.
Well done to all those involved!

A delegation of young people from Northern Ireland have met the government to express their opposition to the “grave injustice” that they do not have the same democratic rights as their peers in the rest of the UK

UYN members were pleased to attend @TalkLoyalism’s presentation on their “What Next?” recommendation paper.
It was great to hear in particular the aspects surrounding young people and the advocacy for greater engagement with unionist and loyalist youth!
An insightful article detailing the increasingly hostile attitude of media outlets towards unionists.
Many young unionists will know very well the vitriol directed towards them for simply expressing their views.
The question remains, why aren’t others calling it out?
🤔Sinn Fein leader, Mary Lou McDonald, recently made some false claims about a ‘United Ireland’ on UK television.
🦄Much like the rest of those advocating for such constitutional change, this shows she is engaging in fantasy politics.
⬇️See her claims being broken down below!
The Sinn Féin leader, Mary Lou McDonald, is trying to fabricate her way to a ‘United Ireland’ on British TV.
Let’s break down some of her claims on Northern Ireland 👇
Beautiful scene in the Northern Ireland town of Portrush last night at its annual band parade 🥁🇬🇧
Wonderful to see so many tourists attending @TheOpen come to watch the talented musicians and have a good time - immersed in the heritage & culture of this special place ☘️
This is a very interesting article that adds to the debate around votes at 16.
It is always positive when young unionists make their voices heard!
Have a read…

.@JackSteele_ is a young unionist currently studying at QUB.
He has penned an interesting essay on the voting age.
Jack is a really capable young man with a big future in unionism.

🚨A new study suggests that a united Ireland would be unaffordable.
🚨"An immediate, major reduction in… living standards" and "huge financial pressure" for those in the Republic.
🚨 The Union provides long-term stability, benefitting all young people.

The initial cost of a united Ireland would be at least €8bn (£6.86bn) a year rising to potentially €20bn (£17.15bn) a year, a new study from Dublin think tank @iiea has estimated https://t.co/pUGgN1T5ez
Recently, members of the UYN visited the Site of the Battle of the Boyne, in Drogheda.
Whilst there, they spoke with @RTERadio1 about the historical significance of the events that took place, and the contemporary importance of this for both Orangeism and Unionism.
History is important to the cultural identity of many Unionists across Northern Ireland, and it’s vital that we ensure the younger generation are educated on this.

We reflected on peace and progress within NI, as well as discussing the shared benefits and importance of the Union.
Our thoughts at the UYN are with
