Unlike state governors, federal lawmakers have zero constitutional immunity, allowing the anti graft agency to actively drag them to court. Yet, massive cases like Senator Orji Uzor Kalu’s ₦7.1 billion fraud retrial, Senator Abdulaziz Yari’s Paris Club refund probe, and Senate President Godswill Akpabio’s ₦100 billion asset diversion file remain completely stalled in plain sight.

This raises a critical institutional question: Why is the EFCC highly efficient at securing rapid convictions and publicly publishing the mugshots of everyday citizens and cybercriminals ("Yahoo boys"), yet consistently fails to secure final judgments to jail political figures?

Is the anti_graft agency structurally outmatched by elite legal maneuvers, or does selective enforcement keep the political class insulated from accountability?
