This evening, Minister @onduhungirehe hosted members of the Rwanda Community Abroad for a Meet & Greet.

In his address, the minister thanked Rwandans living abroad for their continued contribution to Rwanda’s development and encouraged them to keep sharing their expertise, building partnerships and creating opportunities that strengthen the connection between Rwanda and its diaspora.

It was also an opportunity to reconnect, exchange ideas and celebrate the ties that unite Rwandans across the world.

📌#Rwanda🇷🇼 has been ranked first in Africa’s anti-corruption performance, sharing the top position with Seychelles after both countries scored 76.6 points in the preliminary 2026 Ibrahim Index of African Governance (IIAG) results released by the Mo Ibrahim Foundation.

📌The ranking places #Rwanda🇷🇼 ahead of other African countries assessed in the index, which measures governments’ efforts to prevent and combat corruption through public institutions, including the executive, parliament, judiciary, public procurement systems and anti-corruption bodies.

📌The two countries were followed by Mauritius, Senegal, Benin, Botswana, Namibia, Cape Verde, Tunisia and Burkina Faso, which completed the top ten list.

📌The full Ibrahim Index of African Governance 2026 report is expected to be published on October 31.

📌The government of #Rwanda🇷🇼 said it will increase subsidies on selected fertilisers for the 2027A planting season to mitigate the impact of a sharp rise in global input prices.

📌The Minister of Agriculture and Animal Resources, Telesphore Ndabamenye, said this on Thursday, July 2, during the launch of the Ministerial Guidelines for the distribution of subsidised agricultural inputs for the planiting season that runs from July to December.

📌Minister Ndabamenye said the government increased the subsidy on urea from 30 per cent to 45 per cent after international prices climbed by about 60 per cent, largely due to supply chain disruptions and higher transport costs.

📌He urged farmers to register early to facilitate timely planning and distribution of agricultural inputs before planting begins

📌Under the new pricing structure, urea is subsidised at 45 per cent, DAP at 46 per cent and NPK at 43 per cent, while other fertiliser blends attract subsidies ranging between 18 and 46 per cent depending on their formulation.

📌#Rwanda🇷🇼 currently uses between 90,000 and 100,000 tonnes of mineral fertilisers each year. For the 2027A season alone, the country plans to supply about 60,000 tonnes, including 25,000 tonnes that will be manufactured locally.

📌The long-term objective is for locally produced fertilisers to account for at least half of the country's total fertiliser consumption beging in 2027.

Today, two Rwanda Defence Force Senior officers, Lt Col Christian Mushengezi and Lt Col John Bosco Kamuhangire graduated from defence studies programmes at the Joaan bin Jassim Academy for Defence Studies after successfully completing a ten-month programme of professional military education.

In addition to their military training, the officers also completed Arabic language studies, further strengthening their capacity for international military cooperation.

The ceremony was held under the patronage of HE Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence Affairs and attended by senior officials of the Qatar Armed Forces, diplomatic representatives, and distinguished guests. The RDF was represented by the Rwanda Defence Attaché to Qatar, Col. Bernard Niyomugabo.
