At the Africa Mindset Reset Forum, CEO @RNiwenshuti1 joined a distinguished panel on Recognizing Mindset-Shifting Initiatives, moderated by @LarryMadowo.
He shared Rwanda’s experience in using Home-Grown Solutions and knowledge exchange to drive transformation and inspire African-led solutions.
He emphasised the importance of sharing practical experiences, building African solutions around African realities, and turning knowledge into action for sustainable transformation.

The afternoon session opened with Brian Kagoro @TamukaKagoro77 reframing the border as a market, not a fortress, and informality as opportunity, not illegality. Data and ideas are infrastructure, he argued, pointing to M-PESA as proof. Trade is for everyone, and bureaucratic systems only push citizens to bypass them. Sovereignty should mean connection, not exclusion.
His sharpest lines turned inward. "If a cat wishes to be a lion, it must lose its appetite for rats and mice. If you are a lizard in your own home, you can't be a crocodile anywhere else." True African trade, he said, means companies owned by African women and young people, not foreign firms naturalised to trade out of Africa.
To young people, among them LéO Fellows seated in the room, he offered four pillars for meta-Africanism: Skill, Network, Networth, Ubuntu. His closing line reframed the room's role entirely: "We are not Africa's children, we are Africa's parents, because the Africa we want has not yet been born. It will be said that they met in Kigali and birthed the Africa that we want."

Asked what mindset shift matters most, President @PaulKagame went straight to the gap between words and action.
"Africa has all the resources it needs to develop. There's something we have to identify in regard to what is failing us. We can't change the continent without changing our way of doing things. We have to match what we say, with what we want, with what we do."
He named a second, quieter failure: the habit of admiring others.
"The mindset of admiring others reduces us to being subjects of dictates."
For LéO, this is the same discipline our Fellowships push toward, closing the distance between what leaders say they believe and what they actually build.
