On @BBCr4today, interviewer cites our finding that no-deal Brexit would cut access to EU science programme by nearly 50%.
But Prof Sir Mark Walport does UK science community a disservice by avoiding acknowledgement of the seriousness of the damage & sentiment of the community.

Full participation in the EU’s extraordinarily successful multinational research framework-
- is far more valuable than anything Johnson could offer nationally. https://t.co/ZDPReT6RXV
🌎 The UK must seek full association to Erasmus+ and Horizon Europe, regardless of deal or no-deal

COST Actions have significantly impacted technological progress and developed the careers of many. We would love to hear your experience as UK researcher involved in a COST Action. Share and retweet @_ukro@COSTprogramme@UniversitiesUK@bmss_official@royalsociety @beisgovuk
Worrying times for UK participants in COST Actions. They are fantastic research networks and it would be worrying if UK researchers were effectively excluded because of the Brexit shambles.
@beisgovuk @CommonsBEIS and @_ukro have been made aware of the threat to UK COST Actions in the event of a no Deal. It is hoped that the work that BEIS is doing closely with the UK COST Chairs will avoid this significant damage to UK research.
No-deal Brexit 'threatens' UK science industry.

This could mean the end of UK participation in COST after 45 years. Based on no Deal preparations, why is there nothing in place for COST?https://t.co/a6Kw9OqKsm @COSTprogramme@_ukro@UniversitiesUK
This - just so it's clear. Also, @COSTprogramme funding in case of a #NoDealBrexit is not covered at all by the UK's #H2020 'guarantee'! If the UK crashes out of the EU on Halloween, UK participants in hundreds+ COST Actions will become ineligible for participation @_ukro@UkCost
Lady Manningham-Buller, chairwoman of Wellcome Trust:"We are at a tipping point. If we make the UK unfriendly to scientists overseas, the damage that has already been done in the last three years by the uncertainty of Brexit will be compounded."
Just one of the incredible opportunity for the development of UK early career investigators offered by COST and that will not be possible in the event of a no deal on October 31st. #StopBrexit@Scientists4EU@UkCost@COSTprogramme
COST is major route for international research cooperation involving >2,500 UK researchers per year https://t.co/t06LfHQtJ2 Millions of pounds of EU COST Actions have already been withdrawn from the UK. A no Deal Brexit will deny participation of UK Chairs and UK members.
