One third of all attacks on schools and hospitals around the world happened in #Ukraine. Strong monitoring data enables Clusters and partners to take action and to advocate for prevention.
10 years ago, countries came together to ratify the #SafeSchoolsDeclaration, ramping up commitments to protect education from attacks.
At the 5th International Conference, the @UkrEdCluster highlighted how the international community can take to strengthen monitoring systems.

Today #Ukraine experienced another deadly attack by Russian Armed Forces. Children are among the dead and injured. In Kharkiv a kindergarten was directly hit while children were hiding in the shelter.
The war on children must STOP.
🔴 The firefighters extinguished the fire at the kindergarten.
48 children were in the shelter at the time of the Russian drone strike, and they were all evacuated to safety. One person was killed and six others were injured.

Alina, 16, has not stepped into a classroom for almost four years.
Russia’s war on her home has forced her to study online—isolated from her classmates, her teachers, her school.
Yet she has not given up on her dream of education. Alina’s story is not unique. Hundreds of thousands of children in #Ukraine have lost safe access to education.
With your help, @people_in_need can change this. We are creating learning spaces, training teachers, and giving children the chance to keep learning.
As we mark the International Day to Protect Education from Attack, let’s remember that every child deserves a classroom, not a battlefield.
